For an automatic tram to work, the track would have to be big (about the size of the tracks for the trams on the GC Judicator map) because of LOD issues. LOD is level of detail, and battlefield engine uses LODs to render less complex versions of vehicles at a distance to save processing power and reduce lag. The less complex versions of a tram would most likely jump a small track at a distance.
