Re: World in Conflict

You drag a box around your soldiers and tell them to do things.... thats RTS enough for me.

And it does have base building!

I hate this stupid argument...Its a dang RTS...if anything, an RTT is a sub-genre of RTS...

Unfortunately this is also when school starts for me sad . Not to mention that when it comes out in September, I'll have to choose between this and World in Conflict. Oh well, I've experienced worse [nurses wounded foot].

Real-time Strategy games by definition involve base-building and resource-gathering. RTT by definition involves very little, if any, of either. That's an important distinction as it means the world to game-play if you don't have to spend 60% of the game building and managing a base or city.

Imagine chess with resource-gathering, with pawns harvesting resources and building towers for 60% of the game until you've purchased enough bishops and knights to start crossing the board to attack your opponent. Imagine Age of Empires II without any city-building or resource-gathering whatsoever. They'd be totally different games, and as such, they need different titles.

You drag a box around your soldiers and tell them to do things.... thats RTS enough for me.

You tell your minions to do things in BF2, too, if you play as the Commander. Does that mean BF2 is an RTS tongue ?
