Topic: Gripes about the in-game video

I saw in the trailer troopers deploying and using portable shields and for me that detracted from the whole buzz I got from seeing the trailer. Why portable shields? It's not phantom menace where magically everything in the universe had shields. It was ultra lame then and it's still lame now. Just because one can doesn't me one should.

Don't want to get shot? Use cover and don't fight a Star Wars version of Napoleonic warfare. Besides blasters have nice trails like tracers and if you don't get hit right away your opponent has just given away his position.

On a lighter, less troubled note. I still think many of the static buildings in the Mos Espa map need more texture work: Stains, control panels, rust makes, salt build-up, graffiti, ads, playbills etc. Don't make the streets so sterile, people=trash.

I'm very excited about the update and all the work is incredible so please see thsi as constructive criticism.

Re: Gripes about the in-game video

The sheilds are for gameplay purposes: Its better to have them than not cause they work great.

All maps in the mod is wip... Remember we're making it for YOU. If people want for example ads with Darth Tater, you'll see it ingame sometimes.

Re: Gripes about the in-game video

The shields worked very, very well in Galactic Conquest. They make it easier to fight out in the open, and in general add to game-play. They're mostly a defensive weapon and work great to defend choke points such as doorways.

Having said that, I'm sceptical to the apparent fact that infantry can now go through them, and that they're now re-deployable. How is this balanced? It sounds to me like it makes the shields over-powered.

Oh, and are shields available to infantry on all maps, like in GC, or are they scenario-dependent?

Re: Gripes about the in-game video

We really appreciate the comments. smile
The look of the buildings is something that we have looked into revamping texture-wise. It may not be ready for the first release, but but the next one we should have new textures implemented for the tatooine buildings.
Thanks again for the interest in our mod, and hope you can give us more feedback when we do release it publicly. smile

The shields are infact re-deployable and you can walk through them. I was sceptical at first as well, but it really adds to the dynamic of the ground combat.

Yeah, the shields are great and encourage creative teamplay.

Re: Gripes about the in-game video

The Tatooine buildings have new ( and grealy improved in both look and resolution ) textures pretty much made , waiting in the wings . The deal is we have to re-unwrap the models to implement them since we are adding more pallets , rearranging them etc.

Whether they'll make it into R1 its unlikely...but defo R2 , as Rybot said.

The shields arnt all that powerful actually. Infact its the most effective for giving the guy on the deployable Eweb some added protection. There are counter measures.
