Re: Gripes about the in-game video

Ok so everyone loves the shields. They're just something unseen in the classic trilogy, over used in the prequels and for me are very lame like you would find in Battlefront. The thing I eagerly anticipated in First Strike or any Star Wars game versus some random futuristic or sci-fi game was it's basis on more real world equipment. I stopped play UT a long time ago, flinging saw blades was lame. Just like I stopped playing the Quakes or Duke Nukem, I had enough of fighting aliens with bullsh*t weapons. Star Wars battles and equipment at least had it's roots in warfare from the 20th century.

Re: Gripes about the in-game video

Whats wrong with the shields?  I don't think they are 'lame' at all.  They just add more strategy to the game.

Re: Gripes about the in-game video

I'll give johnny one thing, though: I agree it was slightly odd in GC to see them in-game when they weren't there in the movies. But trust me, once you experience them in-game you'll love them. They added so much to GC while, at the same time, they weren't overpowered. They were more like... let's see... laying a minefield in Vanilla BF1942. Not hard to get around as such, just blow the mines away or use an Engineer's wrench to disarm them, but slows your advance down significantly. Having said that, a shield deployed skilfully and/or with a good deal of luck can really ruin an attack.

Each class (other than the Officer) has the ability to choose their primary weapon, and the way in which teh primary weapons are set up dictates the type of play style.

these are not BF style weapons that offer nothing more than slight accuracy changes, they vastly effect your role within that class.  As woody pointed out in his withering fire document, the Assault has a Short medium and long ranged weapon. This vastly effects his abilities at each range meaning he must choose the right tool for the job, to be the most effective.

Re: Gripes about the in-game video

only one out of all the classes has the option to deploy the shield and they work just fine unless someone is smart enof to trow a grenade OVER it..
there easy to beat and the people behind it still need to walk trough it to fire. putting them in harms way.
and you wont see that this many anyway. we placed a lot of them jsut for the filming
