Topic: First Strike Modellers/Animations: Friendly help please?

Hey guys, first off I would like to acknowledge the entire team on getting this mod together. From what I've seen you all have done a great job (accurate too) on getting your mod this far. It's nice to see people of talent come together and create a mod that isn't done poorly. It's actually pretty rare to find any mod that has equal talent throughout the team that produces good work. You all have really added to the community of 2142 and modding in general. So kudos to you smile
(And no, that was not a brown-nosing statement to help my request, regardless of your answer that statement stands true).

So first off, I go by Three9. I've been doing 3D modelling for about 6 years now, and I'm wanting to go into the field of Game Design and do it for a living. I'm currently in the process of starting a mod, and wanting to mod Battlefield 2142. I will not disclose what the name of my mod is, nor the theme through here seeing as it's not announced yet, however I will disclose it in PM's or e-mail if required in exchange for some help.

As I'm sure you already know, the resources for modding 2142 kinda suck, as well as Dice's basically no help to the community. I currently have a model rigged to the animation skeleton file, and I'm looking to export it to get it in game. Here's where I need help. I don't know the proper requirements in order to get it to export properly (currently encountering a SceneParse.exe error). Would any of you mind lending me a hand in explaining how to do so or refer me to a clear and understandable tutorial? I would have bothered you all through e-mail, however I didn't seem to come across any contact information

Oh, and I have rexman's tools as well as Poe2, running 3D max 7, and have 2142 installed but NOT battlefield 2

I appreciate your time, and hopefully we can do more communication in the future once my mod is public
thanks again

Your best bet is to trawl the invaluable archives at http://bfeditor.org/bfeditor/ I think the majority of your needs will be met there.

Re: First Strike Modellers/Animations: Friendly help please?

I'd prefre to not disclose my artwork at Battlefield related forums seeing as it's not announced yet (but will be soon). If there is any way I can get in contact with the team through e-mail or AIM I'd love to do so

I'm really not trying to be difficult, I just don't want my work getting around until I'm ready to do so. But yea...Any help you guys can offer would be appreciated, because I am at a loss of what to do here..I understand though that anyone helping me might need to see my files, etc...only those would I be willing to show anything too

Re: First Strike Modellers/Animations: Friendly help please?

I think for the BF2 editor to work properly you will need BF2 isntalled, since it might use some of those recourses, but then again I'm not to sure of that.

I'm sorry I can't help with the export any further.
