Topic: A new way for capturin the flags.....

Hello there,

I'm a big fan of SW and I was completly disapointed by battlefront series. I hope that this mod will reach the epic battles which seams to lack in other SW games till now.

I'm playing BF2 since it was released and before that I was on BF1942. I noticed that in games ppl will mostly rush the flags and try to hit first any armor or chopper just to get more points from flag captures. This thing kills completly a templay in the game which is IMHO a bad thing.

In order to emphasise the templay the capture flag system should be more like the one in UT2004.

Let me explain it !

In UT2004 conquest mod each team can capture only the flag which isn't locked for the capture. To unlock the flag for capturing you have to capture the previous flag first.

Imagine that you have 3 flags A,B and C. Team 1 got A flag but it can't capture the C flag until the B flag wasn't captured.  This will prevent what we can see in BF 2 right now which is ppl flying all over the map trying to capture every single flag on the map. This is screwing completly any decent firefight except on servers which runs 64 player with maps designed for 32 or 16 players.

Moreover this will promote the teamplay since the team will have to work together in order to defend or to attack the flag. With this system every flag can become the choke point and if a team loos all flags it's not because some flyboy is flying in chopper and capturing the flags but because that team sucks.

I know what you mean, I played the demo of Unreal Tournament 2004 and what he says is correct, if this is possible to include I think perhaps in a latter release, this would be great.

Good point there! Forcing a frontline could be cool, but why not try to do that through clever map design instead? wink I think there SHOULD be a possibilty for players to rambo and go behind enemy lines since that adds more elements to the match, however it shouldn't be easy

This form of flag capture was actually implemented bt Desert Combat for BF1942 and was known as "push" and yes, i think that would be a good way to go, but could maybe act as seperate game mode for the mod, as many people like the "conquest" style

Or if you decide to make rambo style then at least make it so that you need at least 4 guys to take over a flag and not the single guy.

I'm pretty sure that this is the "Supply Lines" which was going to be put in BF2.

I like the stealth rambo style.  It does kind of promote teamwork, suing your team to keep the enemy occupied while a select few take advantage of the situation and capture enemy flags, teaching the enemy a lesson in teamwork in the form of defence.
