Topic: Withering Fire ... A Few Thoughts

First off, awesome job on the Mod! You all rule for doing this and so if I may say ... THANK YOU!

OK, now to the point of the post. I like the theory of withering fire. Getting everyone involved and promoting squad play is a good idea. However, I do think that Withering Fire needs some tweaking to bring balance back to the vehicles.

For example, I was playing as a Storm Trooper on Tatooine and managed to blow up a Rebel Speeder with just a few shots from my blaster. Sorry, I don't recall the exact kit I was using or which weapon i was carrying, but I did find it odd that I could blow up an enemy vehicle in a few shots.

Later on in that round I was playing as a Rebel soldier as the gunner on an Armored Speeder when we came upon a single Storm Trooper. He managed to evade my poor shooting and blow up our Speeder with just a couple of shots from his blaster.

I haven't played FS for too many hours and I don't have experience yet with the various Walkers and other vehicles. It does seem to me though that standard blasters are much too powerful against vehicles. I would think that a blaster should take off something like 0.5% to 1% of health off of a vehicle where it appears that a single blaster shot seemingly takes off large chunks of health.

And on large vehicles like Walkers etc. i would think that a blaster shot would take off perhaps 0.25% to 0.5% MAX of health. I think its cool to have ALL soldiers be able to inflict damage on ANY vehicle, but I think that Troopers, Medics etc. should be inflicting that damage ALONGSIDE of Anti-Vehicle specialists as opposed to completely making up for any lack of them.

Very cool. Hey, you guys could teach EA a thing or two about "customer" service. You're not charging a dime for your Mod yet y'all are all over the forums, interacting with the players. That's the way it should be.

Will there be any changes in the armor of other vehicles?

When it comes to the AT-ST, it's supposed to be protected, as far as I get it. Give it escort to help fend off infantry, and you should be better off.

No changes at this time, and believe it or not we feel for valid reasons. For example the speeder bike is not really an armored vehicle to begin with and we wanted people to have a chance to take them out especially when you will get one or 2 jerks on a server constantly running people over instead of using skill to hit their targe. Thanks for your feedback and if we feel its causing an issue on going after a few weeks of public testing we will address in a future update.

I disagree with giving vehicles more advantage. I think the handheld torpedo launchers need a bit of review. Considering they used the same technology as our Nuclear weapons of today, they damage they inflict seems a little underpowered.

I agree with counterflak. The anti vehicle weapon seem underpowered. I usually just load out with the mortar gun (great idea, very fun to use), and use it instead.

Then again, I only tried the rebel one, not sure about the empirial's weapon.
