Topic: More infantry, less space battles.

I may be in the minority, but I find the space battles to be incredibly dull and rather directionless.

I'd far, far prefer more infantry maps. 8 infantry maps to every 2 space battles. Or - if possible - some sort of "Titan" mode, in which you must board enemy capital ships to take them over. Integrating infantry players into the super starfighter borefest battles.

Another major problem that I have with all-starfighter-no-infantry battles? My lack of a joystick. Flying with the mouse and keyboard is simply not fun, which is why I always shunned the air assets in the other BF games. It isn't cool to force a keyboard/mouse grunt into a starship and expect him to be all that compelled.

As is, I quit a server as soon as it switches to a space map.

Keep in mind, I'm not disputing the quality of the space battles: the sound and modeling are top-notch. I've more a problem with the gameplay.

I think the space battles are great, I mean what would this mod be with out them. If you take a close look at the movies there is a LOT of space battles. Some people complain about them online cos they have no idea how to fight in space lol. I use a mouse/keyboard combo and have no problems with it at all. But each to there own.

Map rotation is up to the server admin.

space battles are fine till they fix the lag issue and ctd with infantry modes.

I sorta like the ground maps better too, but I certainly don't dislike the space battles. (Once you figure out what to do)

Only thing is you gotta hope everyone else knows what to do too. tongue

Then it's a matter of personal opinion. I know what to do, I know how to fly, but I simply don't like the gameplay. Oh, well. That's why they have a "disconnect" button, I guess. smile

I think space battles can't be fun for people who don't have joysticks. There's a really obvious difference in the KDR of Joystick users and Mouse/keyboard users. I have an X52, so space is awesome for me.

In Battlefront 2, the space maps were a big hit to start, but they wore thin rather quickly.  These ones are implemented better with more features and generally better gameplay; however, they are much slower paced.  I think they did an excellent job with space but ultimately they will wear thin as the novelty will wear off.  The folks playing this are primarily tactical FPS folks so I suspect, like in SWBF2, the space maps will be short lived.

Note:  Some folks still love the SWBF2 space maps and the CTF mode was extremely fun...but IN GENERAL, they were massively less popular than the infantry conquest.

So, I'd agree - more infantry conquest over space; however, perhaps buff space by adding in modes using the same maps (CTF is fun...trust me on that ;-))
