Topic: "Fighter-cannon-stamina"

After hours of space fighting I have to say that the fighters should only have 3 seconds of permanent fire and another 3-6 seconds cooldown. So fighters will no longer attack capital ships or open fire at long range on other fighters. That would free up a lot of resources on the servers and dogfighting will become much more intense. What do you think?

We'll look into adding some kind of overheating. It would add abit more gameplay to it really and as you say , save some resources on the server aswel as toning down the 'sniping' in space.

maybe down the hitpoints of the bombers and fighters a little bit then? cause of the overheating and, as i understand, the smaller places to hit the craft than the entire craft itself. tongue

Yeah, the X-Wings and TIE interceptors have a keen advantage for space "sniping". I hate to see the addition of a cool down but it's just pure spamming at times.

I personally like to sneak in as close as possible before I make my presence known.

Overheating is a bad idea due to the ricochet/lagging shots that do no damage. You just waste your weapon heat on what looks like a hit but isn't.

I'm all for keeping it the way it is.

Well you could have the overheating ( to reduce spaming) but increase the power of the shots a little bit so that it would balance out the over heating and you could still take someone out. i think to reduce on the spaming you really only need something like a 1 second overheat delay for every 4-5 second of shooting. It would be just enough to make sure people think about where they shooting and cut down on the people that leave small weights on their fire keys. And if you have some one in you sight for 4-5 second you can easily kill them, most of the time that one second of delay would be spent trying to get them back in to their sights

Not spamming the lasers already has advantages, It's hard to know if there's an enemy on your tail when there aren't any lasers flying past you. In other words, there's no need for adding the cooldown because only idiots spam their guns.
