Re: Nesmazda

How about a 'Europe and US screwing over the Middle East'-style story? The rebel-sympathetic planet, strategically important for some reason or another, has been under sanctions and the occasional bombardment for a prolonged period, without any other result than that the people have gotten impoverished and even more anti-Imperial. Seeing the futility of their blockade, the Empire decides to rally its forces and carry out an all-out invasion after all. Or, of course, you could go with the deal from above, with the surgical strikes on the food production.

Anyone know Rome Total War... Reminded me a bit of that game...

The Empire won't need to field onagers, though, the Rebels have not yet erected a palisade or stone wall tongue .

Youl probably be best taking out the tree(and the other same trees - i see 2 over to the left aswel)  over on the right side of the above screenshot .

They use different textures and were obsolete long ago. They ,and its textures, were supposed to have been taken out of the mod before release

Can you specify what tree (file name), the one with the grey bark? I'm getting my feet wet with a map too and I don't want to use an obsolete static. Thanks.

And I remember a thread posted recently that was a soft smack to the face regarding lack of maps in FS. If people complain about the lack of maps then they should TRY TO MAKE ONE! Even with the third party tools in conjunction with BFEditor it takes a lot of time to create a quality map!

Thomazz-
I really like the work you've done and I have a few noob questions if you don't mind.

1. To make very low walls you pushed down them into the map. Will pushing statics into the map cause any problems/lag when playing?

2. I assume you used three layers for the terrain: hill, steep and low. Did you use the FS textures as supplied by Catbox's BF2-Paint for FS?

3. What did you use your remaining three layers for?

4. Is there an existing spline regarding roads for FS?

5. What map size did you create, 256 or 512?

6. Did you use Terragen or any other map terrain creator?

7. So you are not using any Undergrowth in the recent screen shots?

8. What tips do you have for those of us just getting started?

Thanks to you, and so many others for providing information for mapping!

Oh, and how the hell did you fall from the sky? yikes

Re: Nesmazda

1 - I think - no extra lag - Because - the terrain and Statics are all in the same void.

2 - I used BF2142 textures - and FS Textures.

3 - mostly FS textures.. I think I only use BF2142 texture - tiles texture. Called Base texture or somthing.

4 - Splines - is similar in all 3D programs - It's a line between two vertex's - wich is dots.. Dots & lines.. I think there is a road texture somwhere - I haven't used it yet - I use it in the end.

5 - I actually cannot remember that.. think it's about 1 kilometer. or 2..

6 - no-

7 - im not using overgrowth.. Undergrowth is for grass.

8 - tips?.. That is the hardest question. Start with the texture...
Figure out a base texture - Play around with the colors - and fill out your entire terrain - like laying a base color on a white wall.. Make it your own personal area...
Then - keep doing things that you think is pretty - Else you get tired of it really fast.. That is the most important thing for me.
And thats properly why I made those pictures...

Re: Nesmazda

Looking at that pic, I'm starting to think that the blast crater near the town should be a control point for the Imperials, a rallying point of sorts.

I... don't really think so tongue .
