Topic: 3D radar for space combat

I dont know if this is possible with the engine, but I would really like to se the radar as it is traditional shown in Star Wars games.
I find it much more suited for 3D combat than the BF one.

Here is a screenshot for those who dont know what I am talking about.
Notice how one radar screen shows your front view, and the other your rear view.

The ability to lock the radar to a target would also be nice. (The square brackets on the rear radar)

Re: 3D radar for space combat

Yep, that be from Xwing.  I soooo loved that game.  I also love the two radars.  Nothing like being able to tell quickly when someone's on your tail.  One thing that would be very helpful is the ability to select targets, and store targets in memory.  Mind you I know the BF series was not designed for this where Xwing and other games were.  if it could be incorporated that would be the cats pie, but I do understand there are limits to the BF engine.

Cripes, looking at that screenie I recall how much you could do in this game from selecting targets, to selecting sub-targets on a target, to transferring power from one subsystem to another, altering power levels to subsystems, to shunting shield power to front or back or balanced.  Whew, lots of in flight management but pretty helpful at times.  ie. full power to engines to get somewhere quickly, then shift to more shielding in a heavy firefight, or perhps more to lasers for a constantly supplied barrage.  Ahhhh, the memories.

I liked Xwing vs Tiefighter better myself, but the series rocked! I actually might still have it buried under years of stuff though...

Not going to happen in this engine.

Not to mention, it'd be nearly impossible to sneak up behind people if it could be incorporated, and I don't know about you guys but I rarely get kills when they know I'm coming and are dodging all over the place.
