Other than that , just try not to all swarm around 1 fighter. Its your own fault i think. I try not to go after some-elses target unless it looks like they need help, or request it.

Doesn't a certain mod team always keep telling us "This is all about teamwork"? wink

The raming issue is a fault of the scenario and your/the other guys skill/intelligence (most of the time). I can say from experience that most of the rams resulted from doing loops after an enemy when a teammate was doing the same so it was my fault and his to not realize that we could so easily crash into each other.

I don't see how you can say that they are at fault, when they have no way of knowing each others position?

Re: Collision Avoidance System?

i think the biggest problem is when stupid noobs crash into your nebulon crusier, giving you a team kill (then of course he will punish you)  nobody is gonna want to be in the cap ships if people are crashing into them all the time! *not to mention it isnt fair for you to get the kill if they kamakazi*

You know, it is actually pretty difficult to fly cover for the capital ships, exactly because you cannot see them unless they are right in front of you.
But I understand your frustation, when I was in the frigate it felt like I was piloting a giant flyswatter

That said I only think I have punished a single teamkill on the space maps, and that was a guy who shot me in the back twice in the ISD hangar.
I guess he needed my burning corpse to light up the place   roll.

Re: Collision Avoidance System?

I dont see why everyone has such a problem working out where they are to stop colliding with anything. The mini maps give you a basic idea of where things are in relation to you, just set it to a more confined area (ie zoom it in) so you get a better idea of how close people are to you. You also have the nice little hud indication that gives you an indication of direction, so using the two you can tell how close someone is to you and where he is (or her!).

Avoiding cap ships is exactly the same, you can see where they are on mini map and the hud indication indicates direction. If your getting close then back away from it! I've had a lot of dogfights where I've been escorting a cap and someone attacks me. I start dodging, turn away at last minute to avoid the cap as I've been watching my indications, and bang, he flys in to it.

Spaitail awareness plays its part too. If you know where the cap was when you started a manouvere you can figure out where it is and the best direction to take to avoid it or skim as close as you can to it.  I dont think punish team kills should be allowed on space maps though, it does seem to be easy for people to fly in to one another or the caps.

As Vreki says, getting shot in the hangar is a pain in the arse. Seen that done a few times. If I get the chance I do the same back, funny how they always start bleating for an admin when you do that though.

Re: Collision Avoidance System?

Am i the only one that loves crashing. If anybody remembers the asteroid field in episode 4 there are a lot of crashes. Its a part of space travel.

Re: Collision Avoidance System?

Ok, if it's you crashing into me you'd certainly get punished by me. If you'd have only one life in a match you'd think different, wouldn't you?

I dunno if it is possible but full 3d cockpits and taget lock-on plus padlock-view would help alot to keep your target and surroundings in sight.

Re: Collision Avoidance System?

A warning repeating beeping sound should signalize that you're dangerously close to something.

That way you can be more aware of a crash and hopefully avoid it.
