Re: Give the Dev team some feedback on what you think makes a good map

I like what is said in this thread. I like it a lot.

I think what would make the perfect map is to have alittle of everything on it, like indoor combat for all the troopers then your vehicles going at each other and dogfighting

Re: Give the Dev team some feedback on what you think makes a good map

I think a great map is one where there are lots of buildings you can explore and open areas that you fear to go into. Eg the teams start at opposite sides of a town, the town being shaped something like a rectangle. At the centre of the town there is a large square with a ring of interconnected buildings around the square. There would be a cp at opposite sides of the ring of buildings. There would be a constant exchange of long range fire coming across the square from the opposite cp buildings while there is house to house fighting inside the ring of buildings. There is no way around the square so you must either bravely traverse the diameter of the square or fight through the ring of buildings. Once you controll the whole square there is street fighting between it and the enemy home cp. I got the idea from the multiplayer map, Sniper's Square in medal of honour european assault.

Re: Give the Dev team some feedback on what you think makes a good map

Combining space and infantry has got to be the way forward, a map combining both is what will make this mod stand out. I'd love to be able to fly into a Star Destroyer/space station/Rebel cruiser, then hop out and start fragging away. But the objective needs to be a good one to keep it interesting once that first novelty wears off. Oh and with asteroids, lots of asteroids! :-)

Agree with most other people's requests for big land vehicle based maps, maps where you can really let rip on a speeder.  But I'd be surprised if that wasn't already on the way considering the amount of vehicles that have been built for the mod. Can't wait.

Endor is definitely the way to go for infantry maps, a good diverse landscape where you can roam quite freely and come at the enemy from lots of angles, not the claustrophobic maze that is Mos Espa.

I think it's important to approach designing a map without thinking about it being Star Wars. Forget Star Wars. Think of what would make a great, original, and fun map, and then stick it in the SW universe somewhere, but without being too constrained by the canon.  Go beyond the obligatory Endor, Hoth, Tatooine, Death Star maps.

Did someone say sea maps? With Mon Calamari soldiers? Oh, that would be cool ;-)
