Topic: Homing beacons are awesome

I was playing the day-time Tattooine map today and came across an Imperial walker. I decided to test the homing beacon, and after missing with one, I actually managed to pin the second one onto the walker. It stayed on our map for two minutes as a red icon in a UAV circle.

Was there a homing beacon-like thing in Battlefield 2142? Otherwise, congrats with a great idea. I can't find too many uses for the thing right now, but I'm looking forward to seeing it gain more widespread use with future releases, when more ships and settings and items are added.

Just one question - can you pin it on infantry? Would be interesting to know exactly where a certain enemy infantry unit was. Though perhaps not very useful. Except when his teammates sees it on him and offer to shoot it off. Teamkill time big_smile !

well might work to throw it on a large group of enemy to track em i think having an officer with you is more useful smile

That was an original idea by our team, more specifically Bandu, I also thought it was a great idea and I use for tracking enemy vehicles too, these will become even more important down the road with the new toys we have for you.

If they stick to an infantry unit's face, will they obstruct his vision smile ?

Its in 2142, there is an unlock that does the exact same thing and detects Vehicles only and another one that detects Infantry only (but has a smaller radius).

I suppose its unique that it combines them and has a greater radius, but the idea is not unique.

And yeah, sticking them onto vehicles is one of the most popular things to do in 2142 as well smile
