Topic: Engine Wash

Something to Remove the huge blindspots from turrets at the rear end of capital ships. Fighters shouldn't be able to get as close as they do to the rear of a ship. As a person whos flying skills are limited and as one who prefers ground combat it annoys me when I jump in one of the capital ships and we loose 25% of our health from 1 fighter trailing in the engine blindspot. The fact they are so close yet a pixel out of your Xhair is just annoying.

I have yet to master the antifighter guns, but in some cases I've hit a fighter 6+ times, with a hit indicator showing and their still flying. The fact they can shoot you when they aren't even represented by a pixel is further frustrating. Any chance on a zoom as the alt fire? I realise it would mess up the blockage Runner but it would allow the other ships the excuse of having a longer range, but without the ability to constantly fire as you can with the runner. Small targets+lag+small damage = hard to kill

Also, on the off chance the anti capital ship guns hit a fighter, shouldn't it be a 1 hit kill? surely these bolts would contain enough energy to vaporise a small fighter if they are meant to penetrate the thick hulls of larger ships.

I don't think it would imbalance too much, they have a slower turn rate, long recharge and a slight delay between clicking. the only times you can hit a fighter with them really is when they are right in front of them.

Well I agree... in some point. I mostly play turrents on space (I suck at piloting fighters big_smile) For the first idea I just say the anti fighter turret shouldn't have overheat... I usually do like 6 hit and 1 hit is just what make damage... (with like 30-50 ping and there is the small exploid or what if the laser hit. But no damage) soo till that problem is there the anti-fighter turret shouldn't have overheat... For the anti capital ship turret it should kill fighters in one shot... with that problem i said before its nearly impossible to hit a fighter with it anyway (only if it fly strait you have a chance to hit tongue) But I disagre to remove the blindspots... its help teamplay in space. You need to get some fighter to help to defend those spots smile

nothing more to say eh?? though i like RedShirt's idea of zooming in, sometimes you see a fighter/bomber approaching on the HUD, but you cant actually see him since they are pretty small, so zooming would be a good method to kill some straight on flying bombers/fighters that annoy you with their little crappy lasers

Its hardly teamplay for the lone fighter that's sitting in the blindspot. teamplay would be his teammates keeping the turrets occupied, not His team fighting your team in the middle of the map aay from the ship while the turrets can't hit him.

Ships will still have small blindspots, but they wont have the huge gapeing blindspot at the back.

The corvette has the underside, so does the Neb B, the Imp ships have either side. Yes the blindspots are smaller, but then it will require teamwork from the fighters/bombers to take on a capital ship. a lone fighter should be pulverized by a capital ship, not the other way around.  I do not beleive 1 fighter tailing a large ship in the rear blindspot deserves the 4-5 kills from a capital ship. I have no problem when there's are 6 other enemy fighters, but when its just 1 in the blindspot, no.

Defending a large ship should be easier than attacking. Give ion shots a use. Have your team disable it to allow the other ships to get in closer.

I dunno, as a fighter pilot I find the cap ships, especially the Rebel transports, quite intimidating at the moment.  There should be a more significant engine wash effect, but it's up to fighter pilots as well to clean pesky TIE Bombers off the rear end of your craft.

I always thought  there was an engine wash to be honest... I remember flying real close to an enemy Cap ship and my health would go down 1 point a second.... I wouldn't mind engine wash being incorporated if its not already. Still it shouldn't be rediculously long just 20 meters or so.
