Re: Space Battle stuff

Actually you know what, I take it back and would rather see NO debris whatsoever from fightercraft exploding.  It's just too satisfying to be going head on with a TIE, incinerate it, and to come out the other side of the explosion unscathed.

Anyway, that's how it was in the movies, unless there was a freak kill, like destroying one support pylon for a TIE's wings and having it spin out of control before exploding.

How about we keep the debris (just not giant cunks though; but of bits and pieces of the ship and maybe a wing or a half of one) but it just wouldn't damage you when you fly through it...

Or maybe very very miminal damge or somthing...Im sure we can come to a midpoint; you get no damage while I get debris and slosion!

I LIKE-UH DAH EXPLOSIONING!

Re: Space Battle stuff

It could be argued (I know, I have done so), that the dramatic explosion of fighters around the first Death Star were due to the fact that a space station that big would draw an atmosphere to it. Especially with residuals brought during construction from regular traffic to/from nearby planets, and an inevitable loss of breathable air while the place is still unfinished. Add to that all the stuff it'd pick up after having destroyed a planet... and you've got a healthy layer of atmosphere, there.

Yeah, you say, but what about all the debris and less-than-transparent gases from nearby ship flight? Easy. Remember, the rebels had to fly through the first DS' magnetic shield.  Which is what pushes away most of the big debris.

This, in my mind, explained why stormtroopers could run around on the surface of the DS in GC... smile

The "it's so big, it's got its own gravity" argument could easily be applied to an SSD, too. Especially if it was built on the ground like the one in the Rogue Squadron books.

Today's spelling/grammar tip: There = a (sometimes conceptual) place. "There is my car." or "There is such a thing as magic."  // Their = posessive. "Their meat is full of worms." // They're = contraction of <they are>. "They're crazy!" // "They're trying to put their shoes up there."

while it may have its own gravity it would not have volcanoes that create the atmosphere

No... but it doesn't create it's own atmosphere. It steals it from other planets and starships. smile

i wouldnt think it would be strong enough to do that. But this is star wars so anything can happen.
