It doesn't matter if there is oxygen or not the fact is that if we want to keep the mod as close to star wars as possible we should have huge explosions, it definitely happened in the movies.

but yeah, if you were to spin out of controlm, that would be awsome! You wouldnt necessarly have to die, but your craft would be extremely to difficult, for you lost all of your stabilizers and pressure regulators and what not. Now you are spinning off into space, and your only hope for getting back into battle, is for a tie to come by and blow you up so you can respawn. And maybe, I dunno, 25% of the time, your ship will just explode
