Topic: Ichi The Killer

http://imdb.com/title/tt0296042/

Holy Cow... Quinten Taritino has a Japanese equal/superior.

I just finished watching the movie Ichi The Killer which is a good film if one can follow up on the perhaps diluted plot. Better yet only watch it if you can stand gore (or you can find the HK version which edits alot so I hear).

Its a movie about a brainwashed sadistic assassin named Ichi who is manipulated by a man named Jijii to get revenge on a sado-masachistic Yakuza boss. Despite all of its violence (think Kill Bill and then go a bit further) it does have well developed characters who after awhile their motives and actions begin to make sense.

Its ironic though how many emotions you can get while watching this though. For one you have to be grossed out by Ichi and his messy habits (which thankfully in the opening is acompanied with dry humor to draw the audience in to its messy world) and you have to feel bad for his victims no matter how evil they are. Still, I found myself on the split line between sympasithing (sp) with the brainwashed and manipulated Ichi while at the same time hating him.

Anyways, if it intrests you try and find it. I got a version off of VEOH.com

SOOOOooo anyone else see this movie?

Re: Ichi The Killer

Oh man...I saw this movie about a year ago and it was AWESOME.  Kinda crazy, but a very very good movie imo.  By the way, the word ichi means "one" (the number 1) in japanese, and Ichi (the character) has a big 1 on his back I believe.  I thought that was kinda cool.  If you don't speak japanese (I sure as hell don't), I would still recommend watching it in japanese and just turning on the subtitles, the voiceovers sucked.
