Topic: Has this been thought of (escort mission variation)?

First of all, I hear the DC mod has something called a 'Supply Lines' mode, and I hope it's not too similar to this.

Basically, what I'm thinking about is a Battle of the Atlantic-style scenario in which one faction is trying to blockade and starve out the other. You have two teams, one of which starts with a set number of tickets and a constant ticket drain. Casualties are not penaltized. Now, this faction has one or more ships to escort, and every time one of them reaches its destination (be it a platform, jump point, or whatever) the team receives supplies and gain a set number of tickets.

This means that as a player of this faction, you're dependent on getting a constant stream of ships to their destination to stave off defeat. The other side will lose tickets the regular way (by taking losses), and will lose when its tickets reach zero. This side will need to intercept and destroy ships to win.

I'm thinking maybe the ships to escort could be not freighters, but corvettes. You know, as in blockade runners?

Re: Has this been thought of (escort mission variation)?

instead of the other team losing points the standard way, why not they dont lose points at all? And all you have to do is either...

survive for a given amount of time

or

you have to escort X amount of transports

Why so serious?

Just surviving for so and so long or escorting a set number of transports makes the game mode too similar to Escape from Hoth, in my opinion.
