So I was approached by one Ironclad today, and he invited me to try the mortar fireteam. Now, 'horrify enemy with rain of fire from mortars' quickly turned into 'desperately defend last control point from horde of enemies', but after some (incredibly fun) bouts with Taloraan and Endor, we also got to try out the Foxhole strategy spelled out above, with two or more shields, forming a 360° bubble, with turbo lasers and generators deployed inside along with lots of goodies like homing beacons and bacta canisters. We set it up in the Palace Ruins, and then two of us manned the turbolasers while the rest of the squad spread out to keep the enemy from coming into poison grenade range. Worked like a charm. Imperials pushed through and destroyed our firebase several times, but every time we fought them off and rebuilt. In the end we won with something like 180 tickets left, and all we did was sit there and hold them off. And the best thing is, we got it all on BattleRecorder. It was awesome.
So yes, I heartily recommend the Foxhole Fireteam to everyone out there who want to try teamwork and need to defend a control point against enemies.
Edit: Oh, and thanks to Ironclad for one awesome set of rounds
.
Edit 2: Added all the unit listed in this thread to the Wiki, here. Feel free to edit to improve. For the rest of you who are contributing with gameplay advice article, add [[Category:Tactics]] to the end of the article, and it'll show up on the category page here. I'm also contemplating that all gameplay advice articles should perhaps have a 'Tactics:' prefix.
Oh, and I so need to buy I mic.
