Re: Fireteams

Added new entry:

2-man Speeder Bike Patrol
Composition:
    * 1 Infantryman to drive bike.
    * 1 Speeder Bike.
Suggested use: Patrolling the perimeter of a Mos Espa control point, giving advance warning to your squad of enemy attack.

This simple reconnaissance and patrol unit is centered on the usefulness of the Officer's sensor ping device, and the survivability of the swift Speeder Bike. Have someone else drive the bike while you ride shotgun, periodically pinging your surroundings. If you move carefully, any enemies in the area should be caught by your scans long before they notice you, and the agility of the bike means you can stay well out of harm's way. If your squad is guarding a control point, patrolling the area in this manner means you should spot attackers before they make contact with the control point's defenders. If you are advancing, it lets you know which path is safe.

when you are revived you have full ammo

That is so going to be removed from the mod come the next patch if I have anything to say about it. You just wait. You'll wake up from defibrilation with 1% health, no ammo, your clothes looted, a splitting headache, and a bantha trying to hump you.

Re: Fireteams

Long ago I recommended that when you got into an AT-ST, you signed up as squad leader and formed a squad centered on the walker. Lately I've been wondering how such a squad could be built up. Some brainstorming later:

• The squad should be built up in such a way that the walker received a crew of two, without a need for either to dismount no matter what.
• There should obviously be Support players in the squad for walker repairs.
• The walker's crew should not also be its repairmen, as this would cause a need for them to dismount when the vehicle needed repairs. This means that at least one person outside of the walker should be Support. More than one would work better, though, as it'd mean swifter repairs.
• I'm thinking at least one of the AT-ST's drivers should be a Trooper, to allow the deployment of a sensor droid that would follow the vehicle around, scanning the area for threats. Perhaps the second crew member could be Support, not to effect repairs, but rather to deploy a repair droid to follow the walker.
• At least one squad member on the ground should be HWS, to deploy shields for the repair crew to use then carrying out emergency repairs under fire.

The setup above would mean, in addition to the Officer (sensor pings, spawn function), 1 Trooper and Support (AT-ST crew), and 2 Additional Support (repair crews with anti-infantry weapons to repel tank hunters), and one H.W.S. with repeating blaster (deploying his shield whenever needed and providing suppressing fire of infantry).

Perhaps this system could be coupled with the Bike Scout team, with one of the extravehicular Support players and the Officer scouting ahead with a Speeder Bike while the other Support player and the H.W.S. player stuck with the walker. The instant the walker entered combat, the speeder bike should return to it and the Support player dismount to help effect repairs.

Re: Fireteams

6-man combat-vehicle augmented assault squad:

1-Support (With DEMP)
1-HWS (With Rockets)
2-Trooper (One with Rifle, one with Sniper)
1-Medic (With Carbine)

Vehicles:
1- Attack vehicle (AT-ST, S-1 Firehawke, any 2-man attack vehicle or tank)
(Opt) 1- Transport (Armored Freerunner, Armored Landspeeder, any transport vehicle with 4 or more spots available)

On maps where vehicular combat is key to victory, this squad can do a lot to both augment a vehicle's strengths and cover its weaknesses, allowing both it and the squad accompanying it to do major damage or gain a lot of ground.

The Officer and Trooper w/ Rifle pilot and ride shotgun respectively, while the rest of the squad follows on foot or in a transport. The trooper attaches his homing beacon and sentry droid to the vehicle. If needed, the Officer can get out to deploy a blaster, spawn beacon, or area scan while the co-pilot maintains fire. The Support guy hangs close behind cover of his squadmates and repairs the vehicle as needed, also deploying his astromech droid to offer assistance. Medic, Trooper, and HWS keep an eye out for appropriate targets for their weapons and emphasize defending the vehicle or giving it an advantage against other vehicles.

HWS and Support can help here with their EMP weapons, shutting down enemy vehicles or defenses for the Rockets or combat vehicle to destroy. HWS can also deploy his shield in a defensive scenario with the squad, affording his squad mates greater protection from the enemy.
