Topic: Boarding ships or Titan mode

I'm probabley not the first person to request but i couldn't find their topic. They did it battlefront2 and it would give space maps a lot more use from guys who like ground fighting. You wouldn't have to change the frigates or small ships any but maybe the imperial battleship and a new rebel battleship. Setup would be basically a copy of titan mode. Have all the small frigates attack each other and the enemy battleship's shield until the shield goes down. Then ground fighters could break into enemy hanger and take out several systems on the ship to get to the core (sound familiar?). To keep space fighters involved you could put some of the destroyable systems on the outside of the ship for bombers and frigates to target.

Keeping lag down.....
- static and/or less detailed battleships
- small number of frigates /or none and leave it up to bomber/fighters
- keep insides of battleships small

Optionals
- if its still not possible to board ships im fine with just destroying exterior systems on ships
- shields wouldn't have to encompass the whole ship maybe just the hanger gates
- anti frigate/fighter guns on battleships (i wanted some these on escape from hoth)

Post your comments,criticism,improvements, and YES i am a hipocrit for not understading how hard it is to code and make these things. Just a gameplay idea! I already love this mod! Thanks First Strike Dev Team!

Personally, I'm curious if a python event that occured when a player "entered" a vehicle couldn't immdiatly eject them and then teleport them to a portion of the map that is unreasonabily far (and totally safe) from the rest of the battle. Fighting on a moving ship has the potential for a lot of lag and collision issues (thus my loathing of titan mode), and since we are not in atmosphere, a teleportation event actually could work for boarding/ejecting.

Only problem is, teleportation isnt instantaneous. So you'd see infantry floating across the map

What if it was to encompass 2 maps?

The first to bring down shields of the craft to be boarded, by taking out weps, shields, and say taking a spawn point in the hangar. there shouldnt be too much lag with there being only one ship borded.

The second map would be the inside of the ship, controlling points up to the command center.
or a couple of core rooms, where they would both need to be destroyed for the win.

My opinion is that any map that leads to another map, in a sense of story mode, would be an ideal thing to do for fans of the movies and games, gives them a sense of being in the movie.
Stringing multiple map combinations would give the sense of embarking on the original trilogy through your eyes.

On a space map, what would the chances of you spotting one floating infantry be? I mean, to see a Tie or X-Wing clearly you need to be within 200m, and even then they look like a spec of dust (thus the HUD boxes them for you). Infantry are less than half of that size... so would it be a real issue?

there could be boarding party ships. each carrying 4 to 6 people. they'd need heavy armor though so they wouldn't get picked off easy

oooooo frigates escorting boarding ships!
