The droids are awesome, if you ask me...

And for one reason. Alot of people dont know what the hell they are, or that they're bad.

I was playing the other day, like 2vs3 on Endor, I was imps, and got the droid, and started to hunt down rebels. I remember following one guy...I shot at him, and he looked around like, 'WTF?' and then I kept shootin at him, and he finally noticed me, and just stared at me...Then I killed him. It was awesome.

Oh, and last night I was just PWNING with the officer pistol...Thanks to a well placed beacon, we kept the dirty little snipers at the Ewok village...well, until someone was smart enough to sneak forward...but we won...After losing twice, lol...

They're also quite hard to see.

I agree with the suggestion of weakening their weapon and armour, especially the latter, and giving them a better scanner and perhaps higher speed as a result. Their role should be reconnaissance and patrol, not heavy fire support.
