That works if people are genuine, otherwise it starts to become a he's my mate I'll vote for him, or vote for me and we'll vote on X next time around etc. Plus if you have a good round or three and annoy the other team with a lot of kills they're not gonna vote for you are they? If it relies more on skill etc on the battlefiled, then if the rank system does attract more players, rewards like this to hold the top ranks are the things that are more likely to attract hacks just so people can get to those hard to reach rankings.
I dont know how you could apply those top ranks, but if we start getting more of a player base and attracting more clans, how about giving those ranks to the clan leaders? It wont rely solely on skill but will denote if a clan member is on if they hold a high 'command' position. People can then get bragging rights for taking out the so called commanders. This could also make it fun for things like that inter galactic league thing or whatever its called.
