Please, if I want flamewars, I'll go to the mod forums in hell. I can't speak for the others, but it's probably a similar message. Both of you have good points to make.
TIEPilot, remember that this mod is not trying to emulate real life military precision and accuracy, it's emulating a team-play tactical combat experience set in a different universe, one that we all share a love for. TY2D2 will stand by his guns, as would most of the mod developers, I'm sure, on this subject.
But, TY2D2, remember that you have a better counter-point to make outside of "lol not real life, fictional universe, stfu", that sounds a lot less like saving face when cussed out. You've done too many hours of hard work on both of these projects to lose track of the reasons why certain avenues were or weren't pursued.
In my opinion, the knife is a last resort combat weapon, or an ammo-saver when you have the advantage of a preemptive melee-range strike and you don't want your opponent to be able to retaliate. It's dirty, gutsy, and dangerous, but effective when used right. To glamorize use of the knife any more would distort the immersive teamwork component we've long seen in the Battlefield games; the enemy should never be able to close to knifing range if you've got a squad working alertly; and if they do, they might get a few tokens, but your close working squad will get you a lot more wins. I'll take victory any day.
