Topic: Make a more gritty StarWars mod?

I know this mod is still new. But I love the gritty look of the Storm Troopers, and the weapons. Do the devs think they could apply that same look to their hit effects, and textures? It would help the mod be way more impressive. I'm kinda sick of non gritty games, and with games like COD:4 and UT3 this game kinda looks toned down a bit in the gritty look of warfare. One StarWars game did this and it was great. Republic Commando rocked because of how dark, and gritty the game was. It had that War like feel, and mood to it. This game is vary close to that. I would love to see it go that route but keep the BF gameplay we all know an love without getting to boring. Leave the main game as is but please change the effects to a more gritty, and deadly look.

IE Blasters in the movies made some big impacts. If we could get something as close to that as possible I think it would rely help the mod. It was more sparks, and sparkles than it is in BF2142. Also if we could get some new wall decals, and some better hit sounds it would help the mod even more.

I love this mod. And I think your in the right direction. But this would add so much more terror to the player when enemy fire comes down on him. Suppression effects, and stuff like you see in FH2 for BF2, as well as more dust to kick up when you drive a speeder bike, and a land speeder would help the mod look more real.

Long live the Empire!

Re: Make a more gritty StarWars mod?

May I make a sort of off-topic request that'll probably cause so much lag if implemented that it'd be impossible to play?

One word: Smoke.

Watch the battle of Hoth (4:04, 5:06-5:16, 6:36, 7:30) and the firefights in A New Hope. There is smoke everywhere. From blasters, wrecks, explosions, and fires. Doesn't have to be high-res smoke, but smoke plumes and lots of smoke from explosions would be really nice to have. FH2 does this, and it adds tremendously to the atmosphere.

I also agree fullheartedly with what you say, SC. I'd love battle scenes to look more like the movie ones. The only problem is lag, especially if we're going to add lots of smoke like I suggest (which we probably won't tongue ) .

Repulsorlift craft kicking up dust has been suggested. We'll see what the devs do with it.

Re: Make a more gritty StarWars mod?

Preacher insisted that extra sparks and smoke were added to every blaster impact, I think they were...  Can't get much more than we have right now without causing lots of lag in major firefights, and just plain over-doing it.

Re: Make a more gritty StarWars mod?

How about highly visible muzzle flashes with colours depending on the type of weapon, maybe similar to the light effects of Anakin vs Dooku in ep 2?

I play all max, I know there is some lighting up however I dont take much notice of it. Make it a little more intense.

Re: Make a more gritty StarWars mod?

So you want a bigger muzzle flash not brighter?

Edit: Just FYI, the only muzzle flash I have ever seen is white flashes in the movies... but I don't see how they would go about recreating that effect because you don't see anything on the end of the guns.
