Open S-Foils can make maneuvering a bit more tricky, such as when flying close to the ground. Well, that and I don't like not having complete control over my own fighter... Could the S-Foils be controlled by the countermeasures button instead of my speed? It's nice to fly without S-Foils in attack position when not in combat. The B-Wing's rotation could be controlled by some other button, maybe the boost button.
Oh yeah... FIX THE SPACE INVUNERABILITY GLITCH! Thanks.
Oh no! Another s-foils thread!!
Welcome to the FS forums!
I agree with having FULL control over my craft (at least as much as possible considering the nature of FS, it isn't a simulator afterall
). I love it. Plus, as it is right now, it's a dead give away your decellerating when your s-foils close. Makes you an easy target.
Personally, I want the ability to maneuver the B-wing's gyro system both clockwise and counter clockwise (the rotation rate should be accelerated), AND I want control over the s-foils (X-wing included). The problem is figuring out an appropriate button key setup and if it's even possible to do in the first place. *panics a little*
Lorewise, opening s-foils increases the crafts maneuverability (primarily for space combat) and also improves the firing arc of the cannon systems (provided their mounted on the s-foils). It does nothing for max speed, though. That's a common misconcpetion when it was nothing more than a gameplay mechanic first implemented in the first Rogue Squadron game. To increase potential max speed, a pilot has to manually transfer power from other subsystems to the engines (if the craft even has that ability).
Unfortunately, there seems to be nothing that could be done about that ******* hit detection glitch. I loathe it. I've been shot down so many times when I should've wiped the stars clean of enemy fighters.
Also, anyone else notice only the X-wing has the ability to move in reverse? Why is that?
Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.
