I know from experience that you're never supposed to slow down in battle anyhow. Stay at high speed and don't decelerate unless it's strictly necessary - and even then, realize that doing so carries a huge risk.
Personally, I've found varying your speed when pulling tight maneauvers helps you get the edge in a dogfight, including decelerating and applying the "brakes" when necessary. It's really a basic yet critical aspect of dogfighting. Closing your s-foils in FS is like telegraphing a punch. lol

Re: S-Foils
This is not possible, please stop asking. To have something open and close you need to have controls that have two axis, all of which are used by vehicle control (Throttle, roll, pitch, yaw, mouse axis). The B-Wing functions simply because it only rotates in one direction, if we could give you more control, we would. It's just not possible.

I believe you mean you need controls in one full axis, not 2, unless you want to open one S-Foil and not the other

Re: S-Foils
oh...you could open your S-foils again, you'd just have to pull your keys up out of your keyboard.

Re: S-Foils
S-Foils - Maybe nice from a lore standpoint, but it's not a sim game, so be happy with what we've got. I'm sure if it was possible the dev's would have already worked on it. As for slowing down or stopping mid dogfight, I wouldn't advise it as it takes those precious few seconds to get going agin that it doesn't take long to get shot down, especially if it's busy. The other night a few people were doing it and I was picking them off easily. If I see S-Foils closing I reverse my loop and do a himmelman to finish them off, not just keep going so they can try and get a shot back at me. Invulnerability glitch - What glitch??? The only glitch I noticed in space that bugs me is if someone abandons pilots chair in a galofree on Hoth and you then cant spawn in it. If you mean the hit detection, it's lag, you have to lead the target, not focus on it. This was a major pain in XvT and XWA, sometimes you had to shoot at where the craft WASN'T, as in behind it, below it, above it etc, depending on ping rates etc. The host may detect your hits where it thinks the ship is, not where your comp tells you it is.

exactly what i posted like in 3 other threads... but some ppl dont bother reading it and keep complaining about some glitch, that's just the poor hit detection of the bf2142 engine (and all other BF engines!!) just try hitting a jeep that uses boost with your rorsch in vanilla bf... you also gotta lead your target to get a hit registered unless it heads straight for you!

Sorry, man. I wasn't trying to be a pain, just simply stating what I wish could be done. I guess I'd rather have the s-foils lock in attack position as soon as you take control of the craft, and stay open throughout the battle (until you get killed, etc.) rather than the current setup.
