Topic: Space maps

When a capital ship in the battle of Taloraan is destroyed, the team loses 25 tickets. But when a fighter is destroyed there isn't a ticket loss. Was this intentional? With this settings wouldn't it be better if you fly your capital ship to your own fighter spawn points and camp there until the enemy ships attack? You would win 100%.

Why doesn't a fighter use a ticket?
My opinion:
Destroyed fighter - 1 ticket loss as usual
Destroyed capital ship - 25 ticket loss

With this settings the main target would be still the capital ships.

I hope you understand my bad english big_smile

Re: Space maps

It is intentional I believe, and it is better this way. Otherwise the rounds would end waaay too fast.

Re: Space maps

Yeah it is intentional, if you look at the write up at the beginning of the map you'll note that the whole point of this style of game is to take out all the enemy capital ships, the team doesn't loose or gain points for taking out fighters, they are just a means to an end.

Re: Space maps

The tickets is a percentage indication of how much of your fleet remains. Plain and simple. It's a great way of checking at a glance who currently has the upper hand number-wise. I can glance at the ticket count and go 'Hmm, 75 to 50, OK, so we've lost one ship, they've lost two'. Or 'our tickets have gone down 25 points, looks like we've lost that frigate, then'.

As for camping your own staging area, after our huge victory yesterday on Taloraan we had a discussion on this in the tester chat room. Maybe there'll be changes for 1.2, maybe not, I don't know. Wait and see smile .

I agree there should be some sort of penalty for losing fighters, though. I personally rearm at my gallofree/bulk freighter when out of warheads, but there needs to be a stronger incentive to stay alive rather than just crashing your fighter.

Re: Space maps

I think we talked about this before but the re-arming of fighters needs to be much faster. Staying around the gallofree isnt worth the risk of being destroyed.

Re: Space maps

No, rearming is fine. It's repairs that's supposed to take a while. If you don't want to be destroyed while 'docking', just keep your eyes peeled. The radar picks up enemy fighters several kilometers away.

Re: Space maps

A penalty could be that for every 10 fighters lost an extra 5 seconds is added to fighter respawn time. Or something similar.
