Topic: Battlestats, an event creation and tracking site info:

Battlestats is an event hosting site that is used to record game results and has been used for a number of years by many clans. It’s really easy to use, you just log in, enter your results and it then calculates total points, k/d ratios over the event, points per game, player win/lose ratio’s, game win/lose ratios and gives each player a ranking based on a formula from all these stats.

It also breaks down the results to each clan if you are hosting an event for more than one club. It can also break results down further to show players and points from a clans separate divions, eg TRA has two squadrons, Wyvern and Gold. When holding an internal event between each squadron we can look and see quickly which squadron is winning.

Two types of event can be created, a ‘logged’ event and a ‘war’. A logged event basically means a player can enter individual results, while a war must have two teams minimum to enter a result. This feature is great if you want to create an event that lasts a few days, as you can inform all club players the event is in progress and do not have to setup a time for everyone to get involved and turn up. Players can just get on a server when they want, play a few games then enter their score.

Yes, this is radically different from how many FPS clans have traditionally held wars. You pick a team from your players based either on ability or availability, set a time, turn up and play a set number of rounds on a set map. The battlestats system sounds weird and freaky to you guys! But it works. Again, using my own experience here is an example.

TRA has a rival club, TFA. We have regular events that run for a week. No running around getting people together on a Saturday for three hours, you just turn up, play against some people, then someone takes a screenshot of the result and reports. At the end of the week, depending on the event, the club with the highest score wins. Or it may be the division with the highest score (ie, TRA has most club points, but a TFA division holds most division points so it wins).

We have successfully used this system already to hold some internal First Strike events, using both logged and war types. So how could this benefit those clubs playing First Strike who want to hold clan events? We can use it without the need for a private server. We create an event, each club signs up and it begins. Players go on, play some games and report their scores. At the end of the event, we can see which club, player etc has most points, games played whatever.

So, interested? Want to try it out even for just one event and see how it goes? Ok, go to www.battlestats.com and signup. Then create a club. Now, ask you members to join up and join your club. Create an event, ask other clans to signup if you want them to, then go and have fun. If you don’t like it, don’t use it again. Remember though, as things progress rules can be changed for individual events, this can be used simply as a fun thing to see how many players a clan can field etc. It doesn’t stop you doing the traditional FPS clan thing, which probably came about because people haven’t looked for things like battlestats.

If you are interested, want a more in depth explanation or have some questions about joining and creating your club, or creating an event then please feel free to post, send me a pm or email.

My only affiliation with battlestats is that I have used it for a few years and I am an event admin for TRA. I hold no other staff positions at the site, I do not make money from the site or anything else. The site is free to join and use for all players and clubs.
