Re: Wierd Idea about preventing bunnyhopping

Bunny hopping is a problem. When I'm in close quarters with someone, I hate it when that person starts to jump sideways around me like a bunny. It's bad for gameplay, it's bad for immersion, and it looks damned silly.

In reality, people move sideways at close quarters, yes, but in reality you can easily shoot them when they do so. In FS and other games, strafing makes it hard to hit that person if you can't move your crosshairs fast enough to keep up with him.

Yea, like crucifying all bunny hoppers. And maybe you could explain why it wont work. It seems a very simple thing to me. Hold spacebar.....release.

Because 2142 doesn't recognize key inputs like that.

Ok ty, and safe keeper if strafing was removed this game simply wouldnt be fun. And imagine the negative publicity.

I agree, especially to the points immersion and sillyness wink

In most Shooters moving the mouse don't affects the accuracy of your Weapon, so if you Stand in Cover and don't move you can shoot strafers down.

And strafers don't destroy the immersion like bunnyhoppers.
In BF 2142 bunnyhopping is still a tactical good option if you must reload or if your are under the fire of an sniper with unknow position.

Because 2142 doesn't recognize key inputs like that.

Because of this i am not very confident the idea can be used in FS. sad

The only similiar thing in the game is throwing a grande by holding the right mousekey and release.

I don't quite know what you mean here. I'm not saying the strafing function needs to be removed. I'm saying you shouldn't be able to strafe as quickly as you are now.

Re: Wierd Idea about preventing bunnyhopping

You know, there is a FPS out there where bunny hopping doesn't work at all.. its Battlefront =P.

No, seriously, while Battlefront is a very bad star wars game and fps in general, the jump system is nice enough. When you jump, you can't shoot, and when you land you're 'stunned' for a second because after the jump you land in a 'crouch' position and you have to get up again.
