Topic: Why I'm Uninstalling

1: Space.

Why is space even in this? last time I looked 2142 is a FPS not a flightsim. Points for trying, but this is just a waste of time/resources to get this to work. It's bad... very very bad. I'm not sure if its because the fans of the space part has never played a real flightsim or what... but its lacking most of the main parts of a flightsim.

2: Balance

Rebel ships/armor/gear is far better then imps in every way... don't even get me started on the reb assault rifle. Reb guns are stronger, more accurate then any of the same imp type weapons. AT20 vs E 11 = joke. Imp sniper rifle? three shots. Reb? always 1-2 shots. anti-tank weapons? 5-10 shots to down one tank?

3: Map size.

Most maps are just to large, you get hotspots of action with a 5 min run in the middle. You want the game to be group based but the only way to move units at a semi fast speed is in 2 person armor.. ( less your a reb and you get the APC )

I had such high hopes for this mod I really did, but I think you guys just put way to much time and energy into parts that really did not need it. Scrap the space junk, downsize the maps and balance out the weapons/kits/factions. Do this and you might get more then two servers running at a time.

Shun the non-believer!

Really, Star Wars without space?  Maps that don't go on forever so that I may take my time in between firefights?  I do agree with the balance part, there really is none.  Yet, they might just be waiting until 1.3 to fix that.

Actually, despite disagreeing with you on the space part, thanks for this post.  This helps the team a hell of a lot more than just uinstalling.

Negative feedback is just as useful as positive feedback smile

Re: Why I'm Uninstalling

Thanks for your feedback RK-989, while I don't agree with all of it we appreciate your opinion and we will look into the issues you brought up.  I probably echo the sentiments of most First Strike fans when I say that space is an integral part of the Star Wars universe, and a Star Wars game without space battles would be rather lacking.

On your other points however, please remember that v1.2 is by no means the final version of this mod.  First Strike is, and may always remain a work in progress where we are continuously tuning and refining gameplay.  We do our best to fix the things that are in need of fixing, and fan feedback helps immensely for directing our focus.  I would encourage you not to uninstall the mod, but rather to continue to provide constructive criticism so that we may continue to better the mod.

Re: Why I'm Uninstalling

I would just like to point out that:

E-11 and A280 coding is identical

Sniper rifles both take down infantry in 1-2 shots, at least if you know how to aim, headshots are 1 hit, body shots are 2.

Star Wars without space? That's a joke, this mod isnt trying to be a flight sim, its an arcade engine you can only go so far, I believe we have done a fine job of it, and I think its a great part of the mod.

Most maps are too large? Maybe some are, Ryloth and Ice Plains for example, do get boring when you lack a transport. But the others? I don't think they suffer form that.

If you are tired of walking on the infantry maps like Research facility or Bestine, maybe you should try hooking up with a good squad who protects ther squad leader and spawn beacons, then the walk is eliminated, I never saw you in anyone else's squad except with that other guy who shares a similar name to you, try to broaden your horizon and team up with some experienced players, it's definitely more fun.

As for the general weapons balance and their interaction with tanks, I agree with you, and the dev team is constantly reading these forums and taking note of player feedback as you can see, the mod is a constant WIP. So maybe if you stick around, in a new version your hopes will become a reality.

I hope you reconsider uninstalling if you haven't already, give it time to grow on you and you might change your mind.

Re: Why I'm Uninstalling

Space maps...what??? Dude....they rock. No, it isn't a flight sim, this isn't X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, nor is it trying to be. As said space battles are integral to Star Wars, otherwise it would be...landwars. Space is fun you just got to give it a try and have a good team backing you up, as with every other part of this mod.

Weapon balancing - Is fine, maybe accuracy needs a tweak, but otherwise both teams have similar weapons. The major problem is lone wolfs running off with a kit and meeting a crack squad who instantly take them down, wether thats in a vehicle or not. Think the rebels are superior to imps, try taking a walker with proper backup. Take some infantry to provide repairs and scans and the walkers pwn all.

Map sizes - maybe some are too large, but as people get used to the dynamics of the new maps that will change. Endo Strike team is a huge map as well, takes a while to run from one end to the other, yet we've had a lot of games on that map and no-one has complained. Thats a push map so yes it has bouts of concentrated fire but it can so easily be either a case of holding the rebels up or running over the imperials.
