Re: Why I'm Uninstalling

Maybe you haven't played the map after after 1.2, then ?
Played it 2 nites ago... Rebels sat on the roof again... Just killed the officer sitting up there on a E-Web. There is alot of Documentation outside of the game. Problem is only like 25% or so (of regular games) actualy follow up on the game on the web. It has to be ingame so that everyone can understand the game w/o havine to stop playing the game.
You can. Play the game in windowed mode so you can alt-tab into the wiki. PR is far less intuitive and newbie-friendly than FS and I manage to play it just fine in windowed mode, alt-tabbing in and out.
Expecting people to play in a strange mode unbecoming of the game inorder to fully know how to play your game is also silly.... It won't happen in other words. The voice overs only happen once and you can typicaly turn them off in the options. I think you can suffer through about 1-3 minutes of total voice-over so that you can keep new players and have... ya know... people actualy PLAY the game.....
That's funny, 'cause in the old days there was very little, if any, of the modern hand-holding in games. When I got a new SNES game, or rented one, I'd happily sit in the car on the way home and read the colourful manual in eager anticipation. It was part of the fun. And if there was something in-game you didn't get, you just had to either experiment or pause it for a few secs and, to be frank, RTFM. And there were still loads of people who, you know... PLAYED the games. Today, on the other hand, manuals are short black-and-white pamphlets, reading them is apparently thought to transmute HIV or something judging from the hostility towards the act from today's players, and everything has to be spoon-fed the player in-game.
None of those were Online Only. They also include a concise informative manual out of the game and has the pause feature where everyone stops playing. I have tried before to tell everyone to stop playing in a FPS for a bit so I can see whats going on.... doesn't work to well Also, that was then, this is now. You had mabey 3 different weapons or something in old games and a very simple type of game in general. Little to no tie ins with other features and dynamics. Games nowadays have 13-50 weapons each doing something a bit different and interacting with eachother in different ways. Ion cannons have little to no visible effect on the target so its rather hard to know if it does anything at all.

Re: Why I'm Uninstalling
What does lore tell you Ion cannons do? Maybe a bit of knowledge of the actual universe would help? If someone gets on the roof, throw a nade, get in the TLs or, *GASP* set up a defense there before they arrive, as I have done on multiple occasions. The Deflection towers on DS vary based on map size, and are meant to be taken out by many pilots, bot one lone wolf popping up and down in a hole. If you did that on the 64 player version, you are jsut making it unenjoyable for yourself, so you can blame, yourself. You want ingame voice instructing players what to do? How about you do it? We don't have that kind of time to record over 100 sound bits and then code them to actions ingame. We have a game to make not a tutorial. If the community wants to start putting some tutorials together, that would be great. What exactly is so complex about our game? The most confusing thing I would have to say is Endor and Bestine push mode. But if you opened your eyes and READ THE OBJECTIVES you would know perfectly well what was expected from the Imperial team.

But what about Jedi Knight series? Seriously the manual was tha thing to read. Or for NeverWinter Nights... must read manual. However at NWN there was a manual online. True about that but you HAD to read the manual. So manual is good

Playing in windowed mode gives me access to chat, the Internet, and best of all, the manual while playing. It allows me to Alt-Tab and even Alt-F4 instantaneously out of the game. You can call it silly, but heck, when we're both shot, I'm the one surfing the web while you sit there staring blankly at the "You will respawn in X" countdown .

Make things stop. But don't see any noticeable change in the Cap Ships. If someone gets on the roof, throw a nade, get in the TLs or, *GASP* set up a defense there before they arrive, as I have done on multiple occasions.
Nades are easy to avoid, Turbo Lazers don't have full coverage, There are not automatic defences. Had someone set up an E-Web and shield up there and it didn't do any good whatso ever. So inorder to counter one guy on a speeder bike you need people in Turbo Lasers and people tossing nades up there. One person keeping your whole team buisy.... Lone Wolf > Team Play.... I was completing the objective as fast as anyone could, so your saying the doing what your supposed to do in the map is boring? Sounds like the definition of a bad map then.... You want ingame voice instructing players what to do? How about you do it? We don't have that kind of time to record over 100 sound bits and then code them to actions ingame. IMO not much is more important in a game then making it friendly to noobs. Bug Fixes the only things its secondary to. Keeping player PLAYING and the mod alive with more then 7 people on a server a majority of the time. Its not the communitys responsibility to keep the mod alive, its the devs to make their game enjoyable and understandable to all... What exactly is so complex about our game? The most confusing thing I would have to say is Endor and Bestine push mode. But if you opened your eyes and READ THE OBJECTIVES you would know perfectly well what was expected from the Imperial team.
I know whats expected of the maps... it tells you when its loading. However, ingame it doesn't tell you what any of the weapons do. Kinda sucks to toss what you think is a smoke grenade down and run over it only to find out its a frag. Have no clue what any of the droids do or the stuff you toss on the ground. Don't understand how speederbikes work (flying). Nothing anoys me more then getting on a bike with someone and them driving on the ground. The notes said Hitboxes were put on Capital ships, or something like that... Could have sworn I could already hit them... Did it add damage sections, like hitting the engines does more damage then the middle? If so, wouldn't it be nice to Say this? Like how in Vanilla they say walkers and Tanks have weak spots where even small arms can damage it.

Never read the NWN manual, it had plenty of help and description in game.... Playing in windowed mode gives me access to chat, the Internet, and best of all, the manual while playing. You can call it silly, but heck, when we're both shot, I'm the one surfing the web while you sit there staring blankly at the "You will respawn in X" countdown .
And while your surfing the web getting cought up (few web things take 10seconds...) im studying the map and ploting what to do next and get right back into the game.... I also get immersed much better into the game. I PLAY games fully, not half-heartedly in an window while chating and surfing....

Really. If you are griefing by hiding in one of those cylindrical things or whatever and it makes the map boring for you... stop griefing. Problem solved. Oh, and Yavin wasn't designed for 8-10 people anyway. Lots of BF maps are boring with that few players. Nades are easy to avoid, Turbo Lazers don't have full coverage, There are not automatic defences. Had someone set up an E-Web and shield up there and it didn't do any good whatso ever. I agree with you - you should have to have people near you to deploy a spawn beacon, just like how you need people around you in PR to deploy rally points. The notes said Hitboxes were put on Capital ships, or something like that... Could have sworn I could already hit them... I was the one responsible for writing the new tips, and last time I checked, they did say, perhaps even repeatedly, that cap ships now have weak spots. If they don't, someone will fix it. Thanks for informing us . And while your surfing the web getting cought up (few web things take 10seconds...) im studying the map and ploting what to do next and get right back into the game.... Don't put words in my mouth, please. If it's needed, of course I think about where to spawn next. Stop being obnoxious.
