Topic: AT-ST is it should be this way?

Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to the mod but I'm impressed with the work you made so far. Points for you. I really like driving an AT-ST but is seemed to me a little underpowered at least agains infy. In the movies it looked more dangerous but in game I see lots of rebels just running around "my feet" wich is quite annoying. It wouldnt be a problem if they were not so hard to kill. Sometimes it even looks like all rebels are familiar with the force (?). And there's even not an option to stomp on the other guy. If it was already asked please excuse me but I didn't find it via search option.

Also it's a pity that rarely anyone wants to join your walker as a gunner. Personally I find it great fun even if the driver moves around too much.

Thank you.

P.S. Space battles are a blast!

Re: AT-ST is it should be this way?

If you can get someone to join your walker then great, especially if he plays as support so he can repair on the move. The walker performs well with friendly infantry giving support. Going in on your own against a troop of rebels will eventually get you killed as you become confused by the numbers and lose track of where fire is coming from.

DONT GO ALONE
TRY TO GET A GUNNER
HAVE SQUAD SUPPORT TO REPAIR ON THE MOVE

If you do go alone, then try switching to F2 if someone around your feet as it tends to offer a better downward view. The walker is not underpowered. Given the proper treatment and backup it will stomp over anything and prove almost unbeatable.

Yea the walkers are brilliant and remember they are not made to fight tanks.

Ok, thanks for reply. Here is another question: Why the devs didn't implement ABC (anti-base-camp) code. Today the rebels were driving to the empire mainbase stealing walkers and then camping. Also having other team vehicles seems very vBF-ish and noobish not to mention its lame as hell IMHO. It just encourages whoring and smacktarding. I think at least the ABC code should be implemented, don't you?

Taking the Opposing faction's vehicles is n00bish and or lame? I wouldn't say that too loud...

Basecamp is completely lame but I don't think code should be required to force people not to be idiots.
And stealing the enemies stuff is half the fun of any battlefield game, and really balances the 64/32 player mos espa.

Re: AT-ST is it should be this way?

The AT-ST is awesome. Use external view regularly so people can't sneak up on you, bring infantry escort, and make sure a gunner joins you. The guns you control are actually the secondary lasers mounted on the side of the walker's head, and were probably given to the driver because he also controls the rotation of the head. The heavier and far more accurate twin laser cannons are controlled by the gunner.

If you can't get a gunner, it's actually an idea to hop into the gunner's seat when faced with enemy units. You'll be immobile, but your firepower will increase significantly.

Because the devs want us to sit back at our main base very bored, guarding it, instead of being at the front lines fighting. And because cowardly stealing walkers is soooo much more rewarding than gallantly capturing one in combat. (That's Safe-Keeperish for "I agree fullheartedly" tongue ).

I must've missed the ROTJ scene where Han and Chewie strolled into the Imperial vehicle pool and stole a parked walker. Was it in the Original Edition? I only saw the Special Edition, in which they stole a walker in combat, so that'd explain it.

And stealing the enemies stuff is half the fun of any battlefield game

Parachuting from tall buildings and being able to flag hop are also part of the "fun" of the BF series games. Never saw anyone complain when they took those out.

, and really balances the 64/32 player mos espa.

Mos Espa is perfectly balanced. And if you want walkers, steal one in combat. Lots of people carelessly leave them behind or jump out of them in combat areas.

Re: AT-ST is it should be this way?

Noobs tend to jump out as soon as one rocket hits em, making them easy capture. That or people jump out when it starts smoking. Kill them, repair the walker then take it back and laugh in their faces. Never exit a walker unless it has exploded and thrown you clear.
