Topic: Have you ever played America's Army? (teamwork)

attention achtung achtung: i don't even know if this is possible to apply into bf2142?

america's army is a FPS game, free to download and play (at least it was ~2 years ago tongue).
the game forces players to create mixed squads with classes available according to the map. (i regret for my non-native English).for example:

-when there are 2 people on a server(in different teams), a squad with 4 slots is available to each player(3x rifleman, 1x automatic rifleman) or a commander slot(which is basic rifleman, but i can't remember exactly). player must choose either one of the riflemen or automatic rifle man or commander.
-when 8 more players join(so there's (2+8)/2=5 players in a team) another squad is 'ungrayed' (i mean it becomes available), for example sniper and spotter slot.
-etc..., when there's no slot for a player, a squad is created. but not 'random' but balanced, so that % amount of eg. snipers is eg. 20%

what's the point? eg. on bestine(i think) sometimes it is everybody takes disruptor and keeps camping, and there is no way to make people work in teams. or, on 'Tatooine Mos Espa' map everybody got atst destructor kit(you know 'granade launcher' or 'rocket launcher' tongue) or disruptor. BUT! after 2 mins LITERALLY 99% of my team started yelling 'need ammo' and there wuz no supply/officer (coz why take it when u cannot destroy atst with it? or anyone from a distance). eh, enough for me

i heard 1.2 is the final version so maybe u won't even consider what i have written tongue

1.2 is NOT the final version.

Anyone see the irony in someone who doesn't know English(No offense, you obviously know some, but I need emphasis) is playing a game called America's Army?

I kinda like the idea to an extent. In PR they have a kit limiting system which keeps everything balanced so you dont have 10 AT soldiers spawn when someone spots a tank.

It works there because they have worked out the whole system in python. In 2142 I am not sure such a system could work because a lot of the stuff was removed. Pick up kits are possible however, we have never tried testing and balancing the game with more powerful pick up kits. I know we cannot make them open up squads like in AA but a pick up kit system could emulate kind of the same thing. I am all for pick up kits, but only time will tell if we ever get them.

Irony ? Ask an englishman if americans speak english...  wink ROFL

But back to topic:
Yes, somtimes the players don't work as squad. Usually they get pwnd. I don't think the game should tell you what class to chose (it's also a lot of work to set up such a system an balancing it).
But i think what running a script what kicks squadless players is a good thing.

Re: Have you ever played America's Army? (teamwork)

The devs will never implement something like this. I'd like something like PR's system myself, or at the very least pickup kits, but it's not going to happen. Sorry.

Either way, welcome to FS! Teamwork should increase once the newbies settle down and realize they have to work as a team to have fun.

With that in mind, why dont you be the support or officer?

Or do you only want others to do the teamwork? tongue
