Topic: Invisible turret fire

Should I be able to see the laser bolts from the autoturrets on the Death Star in Battle of Yavin?

It's taken me ages to suss out what was killing me! No "Death Star (autoturret) RabidJohn" nor even "RabidJohn is no more", just a "You were killed".

It was only this morning when I started up an empty server running Yavin and flew around in an X-Wing that I realised what was happening. There was no one else on the server, but I still got shot down! With no other noise from other starfighters, I could hear the autoturrets firing and noticed that they were all tracking me, but no bolts could I see.

They also get me when I'm playing Empire in a TIE fighter; because I can't see any bolts being fired at a Rebel ship, I regularly fly right into the line of fire!

All my in-game video settings are up at maximum, and my system spec is:

Re: Invisible turret fire

I believe when an ai turret shoots you down you dont get a "killed by" message, just you were killed.

Re: Invisible turret fire

This might be related to the invisible turret fire on the manned turrets in the Endor Strike map.

Re: Invisible turret fire

Same also holds true to the Heavy Weapon droids.  I never know if they do anything.  Ocasionaly tho when behind a shield I will hear shots hitting it.  Getting majorly freaked out I scan around for anyone and don't see anyone, pop my head out and hear it again.   Only after a minute or so do I find out that my droid was shooting at apparently nothing and freakin me out.

Re: Invisible turret fire

The Endor guns are odd. I got into one and fired some shots with BR on for a screenshot on a local server, and the shots were visible just fine. Then I went into the BR recording and no shots were visible when the turret fired. Very strange.

Re: Invisible turret fire

Only visible when you yourself are fireing it?

And the battle recorder doesn't save that info?
