Topic: Redeployable mounted blaster

I quick glance at my stat sig below will show that I play as Squad Leader a hell of a lot, but I don't play Officer class that much because it is seriously undergunned; it's got no ’nades and only a pistol to move with. As there's usually at least one other guy in the squad with a personal UAV, the only advantage off the kit is the spawn beacon, and that's just not enough on some of the larger maps where you're at the mercy of the snipers. So why does the mounted EWEB/MkII Heavy Blaster of the Officer class have to be a single use item?

I know that the pistol is consistent with lore and you're not going to give the Officer class a blaster rifle or carbine of any description, but couldn't you at least let me press 'G' to pick up the mounted heavy blaster so I can move on and redeploy it at the next position? I'd still have to rely on a Support class Generator to re-arm it...

To be honest, I was really surprised to find it wasn't already redeployable.

If you don't already know it, you can use 'G' for much more than just switching kits (which are invisibly present for a short while after the body has gone, by the way), you can also use it for repositioning your own mines (including vanilla claymores) and for picking up your ammo box.

It's meant to be. Officers in SW didn't run around shooting people, they coordinated their squads and gave orders. You've got your sensor ping, which has a far longer range than anything your troopers have; the spawn beacon, which is immensely helpful even on smaller maps, and ammo and bacta. You're immensely useful, you're just not that good at killing stuff unless you learn to use the pistol (which you can use to devastating effect once you get good at it, you know).

The E-Web/MKII is a defensive weapon that you're supposed to place and then build a fire base around, with a generator, shield, and so on. It's not your replacement for a blaster rifle. Or to put it another way - it's not your primary weapon.

As for the G key, you can pick up pretty much anything from your shield to your droid with it wink . It's not limited to AT mines and kits.

There was a crash issue if we allowed the eweb to be re-deployable, cant really remember the specifics

Re: Redeployable mounted blaster

I'd actually think about removing the sensor droid from the trooper class, to put more emphasis on the Officers locater box. ATM, theres so many trooper radar droids on the map that the Locater Box is pretty irrelevant.

I would very much like to limit the use of senors all-round the mod... Especially those droids... Maybe not remove but make them require a squad of 6 instead of 3.

How about giving the officer some sort of grenade? I just dont like not having something to throw from cover.

Re: Redeployable mounted blaster

When you consider all the assets of a good mixed class squad, the Officer's UAV, ammo and bacta are pretty redundant; the spawn beacon and mounted gun are the only unique items, and one of those you can't take with you!

At close quarters, I'm not bad with the Officer's pistol, but I'm buggered against a sniper on the far side of, say, Bestine or Endor clearing, and my fixed mounted weapon is also another easy sniper target. I don't want to be running round with a rifle, but I do need to keep moving and I'd just like the ability to move all my kit with my squad from one position to another, say, guarding the spawn beacon. If it's a crash issue, then fair enough, there's not much to do about it, but even the vanilla auto-turrets were redeployable.

Would it be possible for the Officer to 'regenerate' a mounted gun from a Support guy's ammo generator and the old one self-destructs as soon as the new one is deployed (again, as happens with the vanilla auto-turrets)?
