Topic: First Strike dedicated server guidelines
This post is for those of you courteous enough to decide to host a dedicated First Strike server. First of all, many thanks for doing so! Our mod is a Multiplayer experience, so our players need places to be .
However, in order for the gameplay experience to be as memorable as possible, we ask that you follow these guidelines when setting up your FS server:
1. Please disable unlocks, leaving everything available to players from the get-go. This is in part First Strike doesn't make use of locked content such as special devices and weapons, but also because several important weapons, due to engine limitations, count as unlockables and will be unavailable to players if the unlock system is enabled.
2. Please do not alter starting ticket amounts. First Strike maps use special gamemodes and were carefully tested with the ticket amounts that come with the mod. Increasing or decreasing these will very easily upset the gameplay balance of maps.
3. First Strike does not support bots. As such, you need not include rules regarding bots (such as "please switch teams if your team has more bots than players") in your server messages.
4. Please enable PunkBuster. This allows the server to track First Strike players' stats, which will then be displayed at fsmod.com/stats.
5. Please enable Auto-Balance.
6. Please play each map in rotation twice.
7. Please swap teams after each round.
