Huh? I've regularly had one rocket take my airspeeder down to 21%, and a second hit is always fatal – and even if I get away, it takes four full goes with the repair tool to get it back up to 100%!

That said, I do agree that Ryloth is somewhat unbalanced and the airspeeder is a big part of it.

More generally, I think the AT-ST is fine as it is. Who needs rockets when you can take it out with a few pistol shots? The Firehawk and T1B both need similar weak spots adding.

I don't understand why the T1B has been equipped anti-air rockets that can only be directed forward and in the same plane as the ground on which the tank is placed. The flying stuff is up in the air...

It is not the destructive power of the torp that is the problem, it is the accuracy. At first it was too powerful as every shot pretty much guaranteed a hit if you were pointing in the right direction, so it was rightly nerfed so that this wasn't the case, only it has been taken too far to the other extreme and now you can off load your full load of torps at an Airspeeder without taking it down.

That said, the hitpoints of the Y-Wing are too high against the power of the torp as I seem to have registered multiple hits on a Y-Wing without much damage occurring, but this highlights another problem which is the fact that some shots visibly register as a hit but actually do no damage, so you may think you are getting more successful hits than you are.

Either way the torp accuracy needs to be improved and it's potency against the Y-Wing needs some balancing too.

So basically, your complaint is that FS is not a run-and-gun shooter, but actually, for shame, tries to stay true to the SW universe while encouraging teamwork and an actual effort. This in a universe where FS is a welcome breath of at least a small amount of realism and teamwork while every single current SW game is aimed at an audience of players who don't want to engage more than 2% of their brains when playing.

With an attitude like that you're welcome to go putts around with two other people on the only populated server, SK.

The argument for "realism" (whatever the hell that means, considering this is a fantasy movie universe populated with small midget teddy bear characters) is great except for a couple key points:

* The Battlefield engine is a squeezey pooh FPS engine; it always has been, it always will be.  If you want a good engine to promote realism go mod something else yourself.

* The main and huge majority demographic who play BF are looking for fun, fast, not-frustrating pick up and play gameplay with a good mix of vehicles and infantry...THEY ARE NOT LOOKING FOR WEIRD, UNDOCUMENTED GAMEPLAY MECHANICS and VEHICLES THAT TAKE 8+ DIRECT ARTILLARY HITS TO TAKE DOWN FROM THE SAME CLASS VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSING TEAM

* This is a fantasy movie universe populated with small, furry teddy bears.

So let's review:

1) Take a game splintered off a successful franchise with a relatively small player base
2) Lose a large percentage of possible players due to EA's incompetence and uneven patching, which limits the possible new player pool to an even smaller number
3) Alienate the majority of new players due to several core gameplay quirks and balance issues
4) Have several prominent community members prance around the forums pining for the mod to embrace extreme, frustrating realism as "Project Reality X: Galactic Conquest"

There's one fricken' populated server with around 16 people on a BUSY night.  You CAN NOT justify that as being completely due to summer holidays, Euro 2008, global warming, the phase of the moon, and a small BF2142 player base.

Comments like yours are just ignorant and if you want to go play on that three player server with your head up you ash then be my guest.

I'm sorry, but I don't know how you see the current state of the tanks where it takes around 8 shots from another tank's heavy weapon to take one down based anywhere near the realm of realism. It couldn't be further from it.

OK, I agree about tanks taking eight hits from another tank to kill. I concede that one.

As for my attitude, sorry, honestly, but it was a response to you barging in here using words like "phuking retarded" and "crap". I feel it gives the mod a bad image when devs, of all people, use such language on the mod content and suggestions from other devs in a public forum.

I didn't see any such language in Canadien's initial post, he uses 'crap' a few times but that is about it as far as I can tell.

All opinions are welcome whether they be negative or positive as long as they are constructive and say why things are good or bad, and suggest ways of improving the mod, from what I can see here that is what he has done.

All input might not be taken onboard, but it is still good to get feelers out there to see what the general consensus is, remember we are not just building this mod for ourselves, sure we have preferences of style of gameplay and we inject that into what we produce, but if once it goes out into the public sector something doesn't appear to work or winds up the majority of the player base it has to be taken on board for at least the consideration of change.
