I know, but he asked, so I felt he had the right to know. Plus its hardly trying. Anyone who uses the internet can come up with 5 ways to rewrite various words off the top of their heads.

Re: Radio.

Completely off topic, but auto-censorship sucks and, to my mind, is a mark of a lazy forum administrator.

How come the original word for a donkey gets changed to 'pie', yet I can type the proper English 'arse' no problem? There is no consistency, and in any case, neither word is truly offensive in this day and age.

I wonder if it'll let me type my hometown of Scunthorpe? Hmm, it does... that's something at least. On one forum I visit the surname of the famous movie director with the first name of Alfred came out as 'Hitch****' – ridiculous!

'Foul language' was the term used by the Norman French conquerers of England to describe native language of the Anglo-Saxons. Looked at objectively, that was as much of an irrational prejudice as racism or sexism. I don't imagine I'll change the outlook of the English-speaking world with that statement of truth, however, so in the meantime, please turn the auto-censor off for all but the 'worst' words, then moderate the forum properly and delete/edit any deliberately offensive posts.

Back to topic... yes, you could load your own MP3 tracks into the BFV radio, but only you could hear them. Only the tracks that came with the game could be heard by anyone in your vicinity on the server.

Drifting off again... It's a long time since I played BFV, but I remember the choppers being beauties to fly, especially after wrestling with the choppers in the Desert Combat mod for BF1942 (whence sprang BF2, I'm led to believe).

BF2142 a nerfed version of BF2? I actually thought it had many improvements:
No more prone spamming or dolphin diving was a great improvement in the gameplay.
The introduction of Squad Leader Success and Squad Order Bonus Points was a big incentive towards teamplay.
Best of all (IMO), maps where the armour was pretty much side-lined (Berlin, Belgrade, Cerbere, Gibraltar, Tunis...) made for some great infantry-only action.

Re: Radio.

Has nothing to do with laziness.  We can either make the mod or we can sit here cleaning the forums.  This is our place of relaxation, and we want it kept clean.  You get a free game out of the process so it really is in your best interest not to walk through our house with mud on your boots.  Your call though.  I could just sit here deleting posts and wiping stats all day instead, but I think you lot would rather we keep working to bring you the next couple patches with some super cool stuff in them tongue

As far as the radio goes, we looked at several methods of playing star-wars music at various intervals, but each system had problems.  The biggest one was a lack of an "opt out" capability, meaning you'd hear the music regardless of if you wanted to or not.  One day if we stumble upon a reason or system to impliment music or radios on a per-person basis then we may just, as music is a huge factor in star-wars.

Re: Radio.

Hey john , Were you ever in a jeep or a APC with a group on their way to sneak up on an enemy control point behind their flank , and some idiot turns on the radio, and exposes you to the enemy ?
OMg I used to go balistic. Noobs always have tyo blare that radio while you are trying to really fight serious, and the other team can hear your music in full surround sound stereo, and can immediately tell what direction and how far away you are.

Re: Radio.

Operation flaming dart: I get in a PBR, turn on surfin bird, then drive the boat full speed at the beach base, then slide out of the water onto the beach, (still in the boat, mind you) then jump in the front turret, and start mowing down everyone nearby! big_smile

Of course, that only worked like, 2 times...total... *cough*

Good point. I know which I prefer!

Still, if you get a spare moment, can you sort it so the last three letters of crass taken in isolation are not replaced? It is a bit silly...

Yeah, the noobs who turned on the BFV radio at the wrong moment were just as bad as Y-Wing gunners who can't stop shooting!
