Topic: Powerline adaptors... need help.

Hey, typing this from a mac sad

Need to go buy a powerline network to get t3h int@rwebs to the room my comp is now in.

Google failed (for the last time) to give me reviews that told me what i really needed to know, how are these things at transmitting my sniper shots to your digital faces?

Anyone used these or know a gaming site that has reviewed these powerline adaptors?
For those who don't know, powerline adaptors turn your houses electrical system into a LAN.

I've never heard of them myself, I'd like to see what gets posted though.  Sounds like it would be a good investment.

Re: Powerline adaptors... need help.

I know what you mean Angel, plug it into the wall and connect your ethernet cable, then plug another one in somewhere else, they use the houses electrical copper wiring to transmit the signals, but you must remember to have them plugged in the same circuit, ie it wont work if ones upstairs and ones downstairs as these are usually sep[erate circuits.

Usual speed on them isn't bad, a little faster than wireless but not as good as a dedicated ethernet cable. I think max speed you'd be looking at is around 80mbps.

No idea how this would affect gaming, don't see it making a major differance to lag etc though.

Re: Powerline adaptors... need help.

I am now connected upstairs thru my powerline. No real isuues with its o far, just plugged one in downstairs and connected it to my router via a supplied ethernet cable.

Then plugged one in by my PC and connected it and it works!!! No performance hit.
