Topic: The OTHER map you guys missed [Rhen Var CITADEL]
It's a map based on Rhen Var, now before you judge it or say we already have 2 of THOSE, I assure you this one is really quite different from Research Facility and Ice Plains. And it has some pretty neat landmark/points of interest that got a good dose of creativity on my part.
It is strictly infantry only with not even a single speederbike for transport. Set among a huge Jedi Citadel which encompasses an Imperial Power Generator at its center which was previously hidden from the rebels [Basis of the battle scenario] All around are large temples that form a few corridors in which some intense infantry fighting can take place.
There is also a large variation of height in the map for some for 3 dimensional combat we haven't really seen in the other maps, except Bestine really but that's a single ridge, and it's not that interesting admittedly.
But this one has some pretty cool stuff :] Like icebridges [which were a pain to get looking acceptable] icey rock outcroppings, a rock staircase, proper temple plazas and much more complex combinations and placement of the Jedi Temple statics that Ice Plains lacks (No offense BLITZ!)
The story I have drawn up is that during the "two pronged" assualt on the research facility rebel scouts discover a power generator hidden within the citadel that provides the facility with power. It is discovered during the events of RVIP and RVRF so it was not part of the planned 2 pronged assault and a new strike force is sent through a temple into the citadel complex to find and capture the power generator from the Imperials. The Imperial defense detachment responds to the rebel attack and meets them at the citadel.
The ingame breif I wrote is as follows:
As the other two assaults on the research facility are underway, rebel scouts pick up a power generator amidst the ancient jedi citadel. A small strike force enters the citadel to releive the facility of its power generator and aid their comrades abroad the icey battlefield. The Imperial defense detail stationed at Blizzard Outpost responds to the alarm to fend off any rebel combatants in the area.
For reference here are the briefings for RVIP and RVRF
Research:
During a Rebel armoured assault on an Imperial research facility on Rhen Var, a small team of Alliance commandos has successfully made an insertion to the west of the facility via cloaked transport. With the majority of the Imperial forces engaging the enemy to the east, the base’s remaining infantry and light armour must fend off the small but capable assault team, which has been tasked with capturing or eliminating any assets under construction within the facility.Iceplains:
Rebel agents have discovered a secret Imperial research facility on the remote ice planet of Rhen Var. The facility is well protected, with a full garrison at its disposal. Alliance tacticians have developed a two-pronged attack to secure the facility. The first unit is combat dropped into the ice plains east of the target; equipped with a full armour column they intend to spearhead a direct frontal assault. Spotting the Imperial forces erecting a forward command post outside an ancient Jedi Temple ruin, the Alliance commander knows that his forces must keep them occupied long enough for the second phase of the operation to proceed.
Hopefully you guys agree with me that it fits the current story alright, I feel it satisfies itself, without needing to alter the other breifings.

Hopefully this can be added to thes testing along with the other maps [and lok] for everyone, I Am displeased that it wasn't for no apparent reason >:|

Here's some screenshots I took of the map and myself playing it in battlerecorder.

Some known issues:
The collision mesh on the power generator is not detailed enough or something and it doesn't match the visual mesh, it doesn't kill the map but it makes you have to make a huge jump and walk around a few invisble entities which are annoying, shouldn't be hard to fix I assume, make herb do it
I am not sure if this is just my PC or not, but the scope on the rebel LMG gets a strange effect on it for some unknown reason, no other weapon has this problem however. I don't know what to do about it if theres a problem with it.
