I actually found this to be one of the best episodes so far, it had a lot of thing that IMO had been missing in the show up until this point:
-The Politicians were actually doing politics, not playing action heroes.
-Jar Jar was toned down to a bearable level and used in a logical way. His character to me in this episode actually made sense; Representative Binks was representing the republic on a mission to a foreign planet. And his distracting nature was used in a decent way to distract Lott Dod.
-The distrust of the republic by the Twi'lek Cham Syndulla was explained.
-"Ambush" was actually tide in to the plot as a whole, it always annoyed me that the deal was so important yoda took care of it personally yet we never saw any good come of it.
-New characters; an interesting Jedi, a quite a cool looking clone captain and a new admiral. A shame all 3 died but I wouldn't be surprised to see a prequel episode featuring some of them.
-Memorable deaths; its not often that we say a named character die, in this episode 3 episode specifc characters die. Even though the Jedi's death was expected, I still enjoyed the scene for three reasons, he had to die for the Ryloth trilogy to make sense, Dave Filoni the director said he would die in an interview and of course the Jedi's name is Ima-Gun Di.
-The episode also was one of the very few that can be (debatably) called a separatist victory. (Probably more like a draw)
-The episode actually made the "Senate Spy" episode make sense for those of us wondering why Padme' was allowed on Cato Neimoidia, purse world of the Trade federation, by explaining at this point in the war the trade federation was pretending to be independent and that only 'extremists' like Viceroy Nute Gunray were aiding the separatists.
There were a few thing that annoyed me:
-The Droid commanders comment about the path being blocked came too fast the dust still hadn't cleared and was stating the obvious in a really jarring way. As if to say; incase you missed the scene explaining the clones intention to block the path, the path is now blocked.
-Ima Gun Di and his clones got killed by perhaps the smallest force of droids we have seen in an episode so far. Any of one the big name Jedi would take out a force that size in nearly every battle.
-There were a couple of other little things that annoyed me in this epsiode but I have already forgotten them.
All in all I went into this episode expecting it to be terrible and I came out with what may possibly be a new favourite episode. Anyway I'm going to stop typing now, I think everyone gets the point that I liked this episode.
Oh btw I believe Bails ship in the RotS has been reticonned to the Sundred Heart and not the Tantive IV.
General Un-Co,
