Re: Clone Wars TV Series

I say too much Jedi, I always enjoyed the more clone orientated episodes much more anyway, the battles usually look better, then don't fight out in the open and get mowed down like they tend to do when Jedi's are the main focus, and there is always a risk that they will all die  lol I mean, I know Jedi's are important to star wars, but I would love to see it where they are their, but not the as much of the focus. Kinda like how it was in the original Battlefront.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

This week was slightly better. It was more of an adventure episode than a clone wars episode, there I dont mind the Jedi as much as in regular war themed episodes.

Nice homage to ROTJ at one point, you know when you see it.

Overall the episode was alright, nothing too fancy but not the worst one either.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Got around to seeing this episode at last tonight. As I suspected this is proving to be an interesting story arc, this episode is a vast improvement on last week's with a lot of the points I raised addressed, the stakes are higher and the Jedi are faced with genuine peril in this episode as they seek to infiltrate the slave empire, some very cool stuff going on including that nod to Return of the Jedi. Really enjoyed it and am looking forward to where they go with this next.

cool

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

A long wait for the final episode in this trilogy, though it was well worth that wait with some great action, the final battle in particular was pretty spectacular, and there were some other interesting moments in there too such as the slave empire's attempts to break Obi-Wan's spirit in the slaver mines.

*Spoiler Alert*

Though I'm not sure what moral the episode is trying to convey with the final moments where Obi-Wan has the opportunity to kill or spare the Slaver Lord of the mine who has put him through so much, and when the lord says he wouldn't kill an unarmed man because he's a Jedi, Kenobi just gives the nod to Rex who summarily kills him for him instead. So what exactly is that trying to say? I'll keep the moral high ground by not killing you, but get someone else to do it for me instead?

Hmmmmm....

yikes

Other than that nigglingly questionable moral issue, cracking episode, and after a weak start this trilogy thankfully just got better and better with each episode. Looking forward to the next brace of episodes with the return of the Death Watch, and of course we have the appearance of Darth Maul to look forward to as well. How are they going to fit it all in?

cool

Oh, and here is the promo for the next episode:

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Thought it was a very good episode, some random thoughts on it though.

- I don't get the slaves in that industrial setting unless its just a facility for breaking people, it seems droids or another system would be a lot faster and cheaper.

- I laughed at the part where Anikan gets in that gun and it means he can destroy all the other ones, I guess that's just an old rule that if you use the enemies weapon against them it goes through all there defenses.

- I think they finally got a good clone balance going on. In earlier episodes they were ok at fighting in one, the next they would get mowed down, and the next no one would die. It seems that clones finally are bad pie like they should be, but you can see how human and that's why I love episodes focusing on clones the most.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

The industrial facility was just a mine used to break the spirits of the slaves, as they tried to do with Obi-Wan, reminded me a bit of the slave mines from The Temple of Doom, most likely intentionally.

Was also amused by that turret sequence, like it would make any sense at all to have your own weapons capable of breaching your own shields. Perhaps the turrets were just powerfull enough to get through the shields? But if that were the case I'm sure the Star Destroyer's heavy turbolasers could have done the job just as well.

My other minor niggle was the fluctuation in the number of citizens taken from the colony as slaves. At one point it is stated that tens of thousands of Togruta colonists have been taken, and yet at the end of this episode it seems to be just the contents of one large cell that are rescued. Not very efficient slavers if they end up killing so much of their stock during a breaking in process that they go from having tens of thousands of souls to a few dozen by the end.

Also still hating what they've done to the Headhunter, looks like they've put that model together using ice lolly sticks, looks crap.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

The latest episode featuring Deathwatch was pretty good, nice to see the return of young Bonteri, this could set him up to be quite the interesting rogue character in future episodes now that he is no longer aligned to the Separatists, but not willing to go over to the Republic. Also becoming a more serious love interest for Ahsoka adds more depth to her character as a result. I look forward to seeing what other adventures they end up having together.

Deathwatch are also painted quite nicely in shades of grey here, starting off as potential allies to Bonteri, and with their faction fracturing away from the Separatists as well, it starts to look as if we'll be getting one of those classic, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, situations. Yet this is cleverly nixed in the latter half of the episode when the Deathwatch see fit to raise a peaceful village nearby to the ground in answer to the villagers' request that they leave and return the women they have stolen. Clearly painting them once again as purely nasty pieces of work that should not be trusted. There is also a great bit of action when a captured Ahsoka escapes that will leave you going "Whoah!! This is a kid's cartoon?!" Excellent stuff.

There is also a quite creepy moment where all the captured and damaged droids that the Deathwatch use for target practice implore Artoo to repair them which takes on a bit of a nasty zombie like feel to it. Nicely atmospheric, and also reminiscent of the droid vault under Jabba's Palace from ROTJ.

The episode ends in a way that could leave it a stand alone, though I hope there are more stories to this arc as it looks like it could go interesting places. Especially with both Bonteri and Deathwatch's desire to assassinate Count Dooku.
