Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Something that really annoys me about this series is the way that the ships change in deadlyness from episode to episode. In strom over ryloth (the latest episode) a single venerator using a rather strange tactic that left its Heavy turbo laser cannons (thus most of its firepower) out of the battle, yet managed to be 5 or 6 seperatist ships. While in  earlier episodes the rival capital-ships mananged to go toe on toe.

Aside from that the episode is one of the better ones so far.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Yeah, I found that a bit weird as well, there is some logic in the manoeuvre as it puts all your valuable assets out of harms way (bridge, hanger, etc), and the idea was to lure the enemy in to the weakly defended belly so the bombers could make surprise attack runs, but I know what you mean. Another factor is how effective the bombers were against the capital ships, it took only one run to take out most of them. What did the droids do? Switch off their shields just because they were attacking the enemy vessels belly? It did seem a little too easy when compared to the first attack earlier in the episode where there are 3 Republic Destroyers vs a Seperatist Command Ship and 4 Frigates which results in the Republic forces retreating having lost one vessel with another heavily damaged. Then with the second assault, sure Anakin takes out the Command Ship and removes the Seperatist Commander from the picture, but these factors wouldn't logically lead to one surviving Destroyer being a match for 4 Frigates whether they have a Commander coordinating them or not.

Heh, despite these minor gripes I too enjoyed the episode a lot, too much in there to enjoy to nitpick too much.

wink

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Lorewise: Torps generally ignore energy shields and punch through particle shields. The blast will also weaken or destroy armour/shield emitters in the blast area, leaving the area vulnerable to a good lasering.

It looked like the squadron moved at full speed and just carpet bombed the cruisers one by one  on a single side. (presumably firing their torps in staggered pairs-standard procedure)

A squadron of twelve y-wings firing 4 or 5 torps at each cruiser is 48-60 warhead hits per ship- All along one side! I doubt it takes that much to blow up what looks like a ship the size of 2 or three lancers.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Innocents of Ryloth once again proved how a series like this, set to the Galactic Civil War would work so great. Imagining those clones as good ol' stormies is already so cool. Last episode to go next week. Cant wait. smile

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

It has its splendor, yes but tbh the series annoys the hell out of me, that dam twilek lass is just unbearable...

I like the original clone war series, sure it may not be as graphical and flashy as the 3d counterpart but imo it was still better in the sense of dialog and not to mention better betrayal of GG and by far the most accurate smile

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

You mean Ahsoka? She's not a Twi'lek, she's a Togruta, the same species as Shaak Ti.

I like the original series too, but I do think this is better, it has more room to add depth to the story with the longer running time, and I think the better storylines in this series far outweigh the bad. The current run of episodes based around the conflict over Ryloth is really showing what the series is capable of, it looks spectacular and has a strong story to boot, I'm also liking how they're playing with the format, having episodes from the Clones point of view and fleshing out their characters for instance. If they can keep the series from becoming formulaic I think this series will really go places.
