Topic: Questions about getting back into FS

Hi guys,

I played some earlier incarnations of First Strike and had a great time. With the new update I was looking to get back into the action, but had a few questions about installation.

1. In the FS Manual it says that I need version 1.25 of BF2142, and not version 1.4. Is this still correct?

2. The last time I played BF 2142, they implemented a patch that allowed for configurable widescreen resolutions (like 1920x1200). Will this work with First Strike, or should I stick to predetermined 4:3 resolutions?

3. Should the installation procedure go like this: Install BF2142, update bf 2142 to version 1.25, install First Strike v 1.4.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Questions about getting back into FS

Install BF2142 and Northern Strike if you have it.  Then patch BF2142 to 1.5 using THIS installer.

Once you have done that, download First STrike 1.4 full from here Install it and run the First Strike Launcher which will bring you up to date.

Re: Questions about getting back into FS

Widescreen should work fine in FS just like it does in Vanilla, although you'll have to access the command line through the launcher app instead of directly through the shortcut.

1. Use the FS Wiki, which is 99% up to date.

Re: Questions about getting back into FS

Once you get it installed, go to the launcher's File -> Preferences and type "+widescreen 1" in the arguments and you should then see the widescreen resolutions in the game options.

Thanks very much guys. It's good to see the FS community is as vibrant and helpful as ever.

I'm still busy with a few other mods right now, but will try your instructions in the next few days and will let you know how I get on.
