Topic: Love/hate?

Things I hate about FS:
1 Pistols being one handed sniper rifles. Come on its a pistol! It should have a range limition and accuracy deviation over great distances.
2 Launchers need a damage increase. How many times have you hit an air speeder on Ryloth with five missiles and its still flying?
3 Packard mortars are a suppression weapon not a close combat weapon. The rounds should arm at range like the BF2 grenade launcher.
4 Speeder bikes should have an altitude cap to stop roofing.

Things I love about FS:
1 Its Star Wars!!!! Saw the first film at age 11 and 30 years later you guys have enabled me to live my dream of being an Imperial stormtrooper smile
2 Great Community with some great players and a friendly atmosphere.
3 The teamwork and squad play aspect is unrivalled in any other online game I've ever played.
4 The most professional and polished maps I've ever seen in a mod.

FS has grabbed and kept my attention on almost a daily basis for over 12 months now. These are some of my loves and hates. What are yours?

Re: Love/hate?

Things I love

The fact that teamplay happens subconcously. First game I really got into was C&C Renegade... a game where you need teamplay to win, it rarely happened.
I love that (bar me) the community here is extremely friendly, plenty of other mods and games I've been part of have had a community of idiots and morons.
I love the balance in the mod. How everything effects everything but only to certain amounts. I love the very ideals of the mod, read the design articles in the link.
I love working as a tester. Watching maps from their very beginning getting better and better until they reach their final release.
I love flying the lambda and leading squads to victory.
I love the (general) friendlyness between all of the FS clans aswell. There has been a little bickering but I like to think we all get on fine.

I hate(more "Dislike):

PMG's up close.  I've actually set Friendly Fire spalsh damage in CG's to >100%, so shooting at the ground with a PMG does more damage to the weilder than the target.
I also dislike the fact the tracking system doesn't work on missiles right, causing little/no damage to be done unless the target is DEMPed
I don't like that Imperials can't headshot with their sniper rifle but the rebels can.
I ABSOLOUTLY HATE ROOFING.

DUKE815: Teamwork's complicated.  I've found that ramming a Lambda with a Y-wing at full boost is most effective.

I agree whole heartily, especially on number 1

Re: Love/hate?

Things i love:
The teamplay, it makes it alot more fun.
The space maps, the fact that I can fly without those damned AA guns is good enough for me tongue
The amount of different weapons, if you don't feel like a regular blaster, take the EMP gun! big_smile
The speeder bikes, you can fly them: 'wheeeeee!"

Things i hate:
The roofing, people who need to fly on roofs to captue a base are noobs.
The mortar gun close range, come on! it's a mortar gun not a 'shoot this at the ground when people are near you' gun!
The people who want to ruin the game with jetpacks, oh yes I went there.
The sniper haters, see what i did there? Oh yeah I did.

Eagle-eyed Hotshot Investigator

Re: Love/hate?

Things i like:
The teamplay
The Space Maps
The ability to choose Weapons for Different Ranges for almost any class
The taunts & friendly Voice Overs at the Squad Menu "Rebel terminated" big_smile
The beautiful Maps
Sniping @ Bestine, hihihi...
The Scope of the imperial e11 carabine- marks for moving targets...

Things i don't like
Players who don't join a squad -> kick script or  a script to tell them "STFU and join a Squad"
Basecamping Freerunners
Useless Proton Torp for Heavy Wep: Damage against Tanks to small (7 Hits needed to kill, with 8 Shoots Ammo...) Scope useless because no marks for ballistic shoots or moving targes, zooms out to quickly so you can't see at long range if your shoots hits a standing target (like a basecamping freerunner)
Useless Repeating Blaster for the Heavy Wep: I wish it would have the BF 2142 machine gun behaviour, so that you can lay down a decent suppresive fire.
The great Idea to give the class with the highest Ammo Consumption (Support with Clays and C4 Timbomb) a box with ammo

CYNIC, n. A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be. Hence the custom among the Scythians of plucking out a cynic’s eyes to improve his vision

Re: Love/hate?

Things I love:
Space maps....gotta love them snub fighters big_smile
Teamwork, squads repairing, rearming and healing each other as you move up to each CP.
All weapons available smile
The community. Made quite a few buddy's in this game plus other personalities that...are a little annoying. Still, it's the annoying ones that people remember and that help to make a community. If we were all boring gits it wouldn't be anywhere near as much fun.
Testing the new stuff and keeping quiet about the many things I have seen!

Things I hate:
Also the lack of damage from missile launchers plus it's ability to go way off course when firing at a ground target.
people standing in the lambda while it's flying then punishing the pilot for tk.
Ramming
Sniper pistols. 30-50m is about the limit for pistol accuracy.
Roofing, its NOT a valid tactic, it's exploiting a weakness in the cp capture radius.
People taking a cap ship on EFH or taloraan and running it off the map. If you dont know what your doing, ASK!
People taking a walker, getting hit once then jumping out and running away. Here rebels have my walker with lots of health that just requires a little welding.
Samzi reviving people. tongue

Re: Love/hate?

Things I like:
- The loyal player community that's stuck with the mod through issues big and small and still keeps those servers populated.
- How it takes teamwork to pop a tank. I hated how in BF2 you could get in a tank and get destroyed nearly instantly because anyone, with restrictions, could get their hands on a Javelin that destroyed a tank in seconds. Either limit the weapon or nerf it, I say, tanks are there to be feared, not to be massacred.
- The various game modes other than just plain old CP-hopping Conquest.
- Space maps with full freedom of movement for cap ships.
- How existing mod features are being continuously improved (see for example new stormtrooper and weapon skins that came out some time ago).
- People taking a walker, getting hit once then jumping out and running away. Free walkers for us Rebs! ( tongue )
- The Artillery spotting system.
- Team-locked vehicles.
- Mowing stuff down with Combat Speeders and MKIIs.

Things I dislike:
- Couple maps need some work (cough, Ryloth, cough).
- PB/server crash issues.
- Low player count.
- Greatly overpowered PMG, needs its deviation and damage loss over distance tweaked.
- Overpowered T-47, as well as aircraft ramming tanks.
- Proximity Mines, especially now that you can lay them without a delay again. Give us some sort of deployable little laser gun to attach to walls or an alarm thingie that goes off when enemies pass close to it or something.
