I'm for the idea of kicking people who don't join squads. It will be a bit of a pain having to kick people who do join a squad but go lonewolf but then we'll just have to start telling people they'll be kicked from the squad if they don't listen to orders. This should promote teamwork and get more people to use voip.

BI clanstacking isn't much of a problem as long as other veterans don't flock to our team just 'cause they don't want to be on the losing team though of course our team doesn't always win. We've got the best squad leaders and they can be more important than having more veteran players. There are just too few competent squad leaders that like to play officer constantly. In CG's we, BI, usually have one full squad on one team and a couple of guys left out on the other team. That shouldn't imbalance the teams much. DS server is still admined by us so it's our right to clan stack if we want, it's up to the other veterans to keep the teams balanced.

I really don't think that is the right attitude at all SamZi, it is up to everyone else to keep the teams balanced but DS/BI are free to clan stack as they please?

Don't be ridiculous it is up to everyone to do this, all veteran players have equal responsibility as far as keeping games even. I can't understand how you can't see that. Seems you have a very blinkered view to me.

Re: Getting the Community Popular Again

If a round turns out ridiculously one-sided, I often find myself switching sides. It's the right thing to do, and it offers a challenge and an opportunity to spread the word of teamwork to rookies.

Remember that as a tester or dev, in my eyes at least, you have a responsibility to help the 'pubbers' enjoy their matches.

Re: Getting the Community Popular Again

We're not clan stacking to unbalance the teams on purpose. I'm saying that if one squad of BI on one team can unbalance the teams it can be solved by getting a couple of other veterans to swap. Yes of course it's also our responsibility to keep the teams even and we often we end up having to split up. We like to play together and we're not gonna stop clan stacking when the teams can be kept balanced by other players.

A short pause before rounds during CGs would definitely help so that the regular players could share their experience with new ones.

There is already a longer pause between rounds in a CG compared to normal games.  we could bump it to two minutes like PR does, I guess... see how many people wait that time and how much affect it would have.  30 seconds is pushing it for some people already, I'm afraid I won't increase the time to anything longer than it is currently.

Reminders to squad up on the server messages would be a plus.

This is already present.  There are more things I can change to make it more obvious to pubbers to join a squad such as changing the server message that appears on the loading screen away from "Welcome to a DSGaming.net Server, Please watch your language and squad up." to something that encourages TP more ("Join a squad for access to extra kit items and to spawn closer to the action!"), but that is something I won't change without DS's permission. It isn't my clans server anymore.

Also, BI, DS or any other clan has the right to clan stack wherever they please.  Server Admins also have the right to kick/team change players as they please aswell.  I like to think BI is pretty good for swapping over to balance the teams... Sam and I have done it fairly often in the past, as have a few of our members upon request.  As has been pointed out, its the veterans who have the responsibility to swap to swap teams if games are unbalanced, not just the clans.  It's only usually NOTICED however because a certain group of people happen to wear the same tags.  Its not only clan's doing this "stacking" you know...

Really?  I didn't realize.  I dunno about two minutes.... Sounds a little too long to me.

Lack of players is because of the crappy 2142 engine I think. People have enought to complain about on vanilla rather than adding what they perceive to be more strain, meaning a mod.

The crappy BF2 engine doesn't seem to keep them away from Mods like PR, PoE or AiX.
BF 2142 is less crappy than BF2, but the smaller Playerbase hurt all BF 2142 Mods badly.

Most people i have asked to play First Strike with me tell me:
1.) I would play, if it was a BF2 Mod. (Maybe after BF2142 became cheaper the number of players would rise)
2.) I would play, but i can't install / can't run First Strike
3.) I would play, but there are always empty servers

There is nothing we can do against Point 1.)
Point 2.) is task of the Devs, and IMHO First Strike is one of the best supported mods. (Forgotten Hope 2 has had similiar problems with their launcher / Toolbox)
Point 3.) is the point every player can help by promoting First Strike and the community games.

Sure, nobody questions anybody's right to stack the teams. It's a lot of fun to play in a very good squad, but it's not fun being pwned by that uber squad all the time.
The problem here is that the people in clans (who'll keep playing FirstStrike anyway) have fun in their uber squad and the newbloods (who probably won't keep playing FirstStrike, dependent on their ingame experience) have none, because they get raped and eventually leave the mod.

For example saturdays Rhen Var Ice Plains round was very bad, the imps were camping with like 6 S-1 Firehawkes. No rebel could get past that emplacement during the whole round. (I tried to change to the rebels but I couldn't... "Autobalancing" I think sad) This was a very bad experience for a newblood who kept rushing in and died in no time and perhaps he won't come back.
Well you could say that he was just too stupid for the game because he didn't group up with the other rebel players but that doesn't help the community.
