I would much rather see 2 minutes tried out, 30 seconds is not enough time to coordinate anything really. That's about time enough for one person to get 4 lines of text out through the rest of the spam and no one else is focused on the chat at that time anyways.

But 30 secs is enough time for an experienced player to make a squad, invite 1 or 2 of his buddies and some unfamiliar faces to a squad, post 'squad up' and be ready to spawn with a squad.
Any further tactics  take the form of 'alright gang, this is what we need to do...' over voip, ingame orders and if all else fails, charging off spamming the 'follow me' macro.

Fine, tyler.  Just for you I'll bump it to two minutes.

No, don't. It would only be an annoyance. One minute should be long enough.

Re: Getting the Community Popular Again

TBH, I'd probably use that minute to create/join a squad (more likely join, I'm a terrible squad leader because I assume everyone should know military fire and manouvere techniques!) then nip off to grab a quick beer and a smoke. I usually sit talking to clan mates over Ventrillo as the in game one is terrible. That and I hate having to push the map away to see whats going on. Increasing it past 2 minutes won't do much to help newcomers IMO, if anything they could leave because they'll be bored waiting 2 minutes to get in to every map.

Just think, on the average community night lasting say 3 hours, depending on teams etc, you'll waste 20 mins just sitting looking at the map and spam messages. And thats only if we get through 5 maps at 2 rounds a piece. NO THANKS!

Re: Getting the Community Popular Again

No, I have to agree I'm not in favour of the two minute delay, there is enough time wasted on the loading screen as it is, especially when you have Muppets requested a map vote 30 seconds into a new round. 30 seconds to one minute is fine as a delay for CGs, plenty of time for everyone to load up the map and perhaps organise squads, no need for any more than that in my opinion.

Could you nitpickers please read the topic again?

Im pretty sure the delay before rounds isnt one of the crucial issues.

Keep your ears open, a tournament may be in the future.

IMHO a tournament or a campaing would be a great thing to build up a bigger community.

I'm playing since 2007 in a BF2 campaign. Every two weeks a 1 hour Battle, 2 times a week 1 hour training.
Fixeds sides, each side fixes squads for air, tanks, infantery.
News about the last Battle: MEC stucked in the swamps of Iraq !

Teamwork is great, also the community. Besides of playing various games together after the battle / training you find always somebody to chat via teamspeak.

While it wasn't intended to be part of the thread, I believe it is still relevant to it; we want to discuss methods for what will keep players as well as gaining new ones.

Think of it like running a business, you know the old saying; "It's easier to keep existing customers than gaining new ones." And I think the lack of players in the community proves that point. I think it's good that everyone is discussing methods on improving the experience, be it about clan stacking or the time in between rounds.

Keep in mind we also want to discuss how to get new players, we need word of mouth, we need videos, so anyone with free time and even basic video editing skills please sign up for the media team. I think I will be when I get more time on my hands, but for now I'll just be posting suggestions.

And a Tournament would be awesome!
