Topic: Launcher Problem

So I had to reinstal 2142 and FS with it, but when I run the launcher it gets stuck on the 2nd line which says "Extract: FirstStrikeLauncher.exe". Ith just sits at 0% on that line. Any Ideas?

I'm running windows vista 64 bit and BF2142 patch 1.5.

Are you running as an Administrator?

Yeah, I did. I also have user account control disabled.

Try installing winrar. May help extract it properly wink

When you say problems running it, do you mean the First Strike game launcher, or the actual installation process for the game and or launcher?

If it is not installing the launcher, just ignore it. Install the game, when it asks you to install the launcher hit cancel. Now navigate to program files/EAGames/2142/mods/firststrike (phew!) or whereever you installed the mod too. In the firststrike folder should be a file called fslauncher or similar, just run that and see if that cures it.

I ran "fslauncher0.0.7.1pub.exe", from the FS directory, it asked to install the launcher, so I did. The I ran the launcher and a window titled "Launcher Updater" popped up. In the window, the first line it executes works fine (this line being "Download: publauncher0.0.8.0.zip"), but then it gets to the second line (which is "Extract: FirstStrikeLauncher.exe") and just sits at 0%. I tried running as admin and running in compatibility mode, but nothing helped.

Ok, try installing a dedicated zip program such as winrar or 7zip. Then try again.

If you already have a dedicated extractor then go to this address in your computer:

C:\Program Files (x86)\First Strike

You should have a zip file in there which is called publauncher0.0.8.0.zip
right click on it and select 'extract here' if it asks you to overwrite files click yes. Then run the updater again. If the file is corrupt then delete the zip file and delete the folder FirstStrike then reinstall the launcher as explained in my previous post.
